After the global debut on September 8, 2015, Rolls Royce will be launching Dawn on March 8, 2016. On this date, Dawn will be driven and tested on the roads of South Africa’s Western Cape by the world media. Dawn is an open-top version of Wraith coupé and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2016. The name ‘Dawn’ was first used by Rolls Royce in the year 1949 and the legacy continues till today.
Dawn is powered by the same 624bhp, twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 engine which is also used in the Rolls Royce Wraith. Also, Rolls Royce has decided to end production of Phantom, discontinuing Phantom Coupé and Drophead Coupé forever.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, “Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date, and begins a new age of open-top, super-luxury motoring. It will be the most social of super-luxury drophead motor cars for those who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s most exclusive social hotspots.”
Richard Carter, director of global communications, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars commented, “The Western Cape with its scenic splendour, excellent roads and sumptuous accommodation provides the perfect backdrop for these world-class journalists to test drive our new Rolls-Royce Dawn, a beautiful new motor car that offers the most uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world.” He further added, “As a South African myself, I am proud to bring Rolls-Royce, the world’s leading luxury brand, to the country of my birth.”
