Stellantis Confirms Chinese Electric Carmaker Leapmotor India Entry
Leapmotor will be Stellantis’s attempt to break into the ever growing EV market in India
Stellantis has revealed that it will introduce the Chinese electric carmaker, Leapmotor, to India. The Stellantis group currently has two brands in the Indian market: Jeep and Citroen. With the introduction of Leapmotor, Stellantis will be targeting the growing EV market in India and going against mass-market car brands such as Mahindra and Tata along with premium carmakers such as BYD.
While Leapmotor’s entry into the Indian market is confirmed, when the brand is going to start operations is yet to be known.
Leapmotor’s Portfolio
The carmaker is currently active in 23 countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Nepal. The carmaker has a total of 3 models under its portfolio, which includes the T03 compact hatchback, the flagship SUV C10 with a range extender option, and the soon-to-be launched B10.
It remains to be seen which of these cars will be introduced in the Indian market first, but here’s a quick overview of all of them:
T03 Overview
The T03 is a small hatchback whose rounded and curved design is reminiscent of the Fiat 500. It gets large headlight housing on the front, which also features the DRLs. It gets body-coloured door handles, blacked-out ORVM and wrap-around taillights. The cabin of the T03 is minimalistic and comes with a three-spoke steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system mounted on a layered dashboard. It also comes with a sunroof.
It comes with a single powertrain option, specifications of which are as follows:

The battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in 36 minutes using a 48 kW charger.
C10 Overview
The Leapmotor C10 is the carmaker’s flagship offering, which boasts a sharp and sleek design. Even the cabin design is minimalistic and can be had in two themes: all-black or black / brown.
Leapmotor, which specialises in EVs, offers the C10 with two powertrains: a pure electric version or as an EV with range extender. or a smaller pack with a range extender. The latter basically uses an ICE engine to charge the battery of the C10 using a 1.5-litre petrol engine (68 PS), while propulsion is taken care of by the electric powertrain. The larger battery pack can fast charge from 30 to 80 percent in 30 minutes, while the range extender version with the smaller battery can achieve the same in 18 minutes.
B10 Overview
The Leapmotor B10 is the next product for global markets from the Chinese carmaker. It slots below the C10 in the carmaker’s lineup, but the design is reminiscent of the carmaker’s flagship offering. Even the interior of the B10 looks premium with a minimalistic design as well as generous use of ambient lighting across the AC vents and door handles.. Leapmotor has not revealed the powertrain specifications of the B10 as of now.
