Suzuki Swift EV Hybrid to be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show

Maruti Swift is a flagship model for Maruti Suzuki India and the diesel as well as petrol variants put together have garnered the growth beyond the company’s expectations. Now, in tandem with the current demands for alternative engines due to high petrol price and to comply with the latest emission norms, almost all the auto manufacturers are delving innovative concepts to lure customers.

In this direction, Suzuki Motors is said to showcase 3 new concept cars in Tokyo Motor show among which the Swift EV Hybrid is the most anticipated concept car. The Suzuki Swift EV is developed to incorporate a hybrid engine to run on battery and conveniently switch to the petrol engine once it runs out of the battery charge. The car is capable of travelling a distance of 11.2 miles on a single charge. Working towards a single goal to develop a unique concept car, Suzuki Motors have evolved with the Swift EV, which is however not an out and out EV car like Nissan Leaf.

The hybrid engine comprising of the petrol and electric version are in accordance with the Chevrolet Volt. It is well-known that the Suzuki Volkswagen Joint Venture has been formed to primarily gain access to the Volkswagen’s hybrid engine technology, which Suzuki is not competent to develop on its own due to the lack of investment capital. The car manufacturers across the globe are continuously striving to produce newer concept cars to hold an appeal to the consumers at the same time to serve the purpose of encouraging a productive and greener environment.
