The new lower-spec variants gain some features from the next-in-line XM+ trim

The Tata Altroz now gets two new affordable variants - XM and XM(S) - expanding its accessibility and appeal. The XM variant was available at the time of launch. The new variants slotted between the XE+ and XM+ trims.

The XM variant commands Rs 10,000 over the XE+ variant and undercuts the XM+ by Rs 55,000. Similarly, the XM (S) variant is priced at Rs 55,000 less than the XM+ (S).

What Features Does It Get?
The XM variant adds 16-inch wheels with full cover, height-adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjustable and auto-fold ORVMs, and steering-mounted audio controls over the XE+ variant. A 9-inch touchscreen system is optional with both the variants, and we believe it only supports Bluetooth connectivity. A sunroof is available with the XM (S) variant, which commands Rs 45,000 over the XM.
The XM trims also feature dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, multi-drive modes, remote keyless entry, rear power windows, and front USB charging.

Other Variants Rejigged Too!
Aside from the new variants, Tata has also updated the feature list of a few other lower variants of the Altroz hatchback. The base-spec XE variant now gets rear power windows and remote keyless entry with follow-me-home lamps.
The XM+ variant gets the same black and grey interior as seen on the top-end variant. It now features rear parking camera, driver seat height adjustment (offered from the new XM variant onwards), and cruise control. The XT variant is now equipped with 16-inch hyperstyle wheels, and rear defogger.
The new XM and XM(S) variants are only available with the Altroz’s 1.2-litre petrol engine, which is good for 88PS and 115Nm. They get a manual transmission only, while the dual clutch automatic can be opted from the next-in-line XM+ variant.
The prices for the Tata Altroz range from Rs 6.60 lakh to Rs 10.74 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). It rivals the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
