*Tiago's figures
Most power: VW Polo GT TSI
Most torque: VW Polo GT TSI
With the Nexon's turbo petrol engine, Tata’s new premium hatchback will be the most powerful and torquiest petrol option (if you do not count the Baleno RS or Polo GT TSI). However, take into account the turbo-petrol versions of both Maruti and Volkswagen, and the Altroz finds itself falling short of the Polo GT TSI’s figures while nearly matching those of the Baleno RS. While Tata has only revealed the availability of a 5-speed manual gearbox on the Altroz for now, an AMT cannot be ruled out. Only the Altroz’s petrol engine’s specifications have been revealed for now.
The Altroz will also be available with the naturally-aspirated version of the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine, which is currently available with the Tiago. It is roughly on par with the other naturally aspirated engines of the rivals except for the Polo, which is the least powerful car here.
Price range We're comparing petrol models only. The Baleno and Polo range also include Baleno RS and Polo GT TSI, respectively. Price range of Altroz rivals includes variants with automatic transmission as well.
