The Altroz will be launched sometime in January 2020
The Tata Altroz has been coming a long time and the Indian carmaker finally invited us to drive the car in Jaisalmer. Feast your eyes on these amazing pictures we clicked in the desert:
Front
The Tata logo sits bang in the middle of the honeycomb grille of the Altroz. The air dam positioned below has huge openings for air to reach the radiator. The Altroz is 1755mm wide.
Headlamps
The headlamps flow towards the fender and their integration with the grille is such that both look like one unit. The headlamps are projector units but they use halogen bulbs. The fog lamps are positioned below the headlamps and the DRLs are positioned in the same housing.
Engine

Tata is offering the Altroz with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 86PS of max power and 113Nm of peak torque. There is also a 1.5-litre diesel on offer that makes 90PS of max power and 200Nm of peak torque. Both these engines are BS6-compliant and are available with a 5-speed manual transmission at launch.

Side profile
Shift to the side and the Altroz’s roofline starts to taper downwards, just as it reaches upward. The shoulder line is also consistently rising all the way to the tail lamps at the back. The door handles for the rear doors are tucked away behind the glass. The side indicators are positioned vertically on the front fenders. The hatchback is 3990mm long, 1523mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2501mm.
Wheels
The wheels are 16-inch alloy units that are shod with 195/55 section tyres in case of the petrol top-spec variant, and 185/60 section tyres for the top-spec diesel variant.
Front door handle
The black button on the door handle is used to operate the keyless entry system. Push it with the fob in your pocket and the Altroz will lock/unlock automatically. Tata also provides a wearable band with the Altroz that can replace the key fob.
Tail lamps
The tail lamps of the Altroz, which feature blacked-out elements and a clear lens, flow onto the tailgate. There are no LED elements in the tail lamps too.
Rear view camera
Tata has neatly tucked the rear view camera underneath the Altroz badging in the middle of the boot.
Rear
Half of the rear tailgate is blacked out whereas the other half is painted in the respective body colour. Altroz is spelled out on the boot, right in the centre. The spoiler is split in the middle and the recess is where the stop light is mounted. There is a rear wiper and washer as well. The rear fog lamp is placed on the bumper.
