Tata has introduced mid-spec XTA+ automatic variants of the Safari and Harrier at Rs 19.14 lakh and 20.08 lakh respectively. The Harrier XTA+ also comes in a Dark Edition at a premium of Rs 20,000. Both models are only available with a diesel engine. Here’s how the new XTA+ variant’s prices compare to the previously available options:

The five-seater Harrier XTA+ demands Rs 2.08 lakh over the XMA automatic and Rs 1.3 lakh over the XT+ manual variant. On the other hand, the three-row Safari XTA+ comes at a premium of Rs 2.27 lakh over the XMA and Rs 1.3 lakh over the XT+.
The new Harrier XTA+ variant comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, automatic projector headlamps, dual-function LED DRLs, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 8 speakers (4 speakers + 4 tweeters), Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, push-button start, climate control, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and drive modes (Eco, City, Sport).
Safety is covered by dual front airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold control, roll-over mitigation, corner stability control, a rear parking camera, and front fog lamps.
The Safari XTA+ variant gets the same feature list as well as rear disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system, mood lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, and an extra row of seats.
Compared to the top-end XZA+ variant, the Harrier and Safari miss out on HID projector headlamps, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, JBL 9-speaker setup, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, six airbags, ISOFIX anchor points, and powered driver’s seat.

Both SUVs are powered by 170PS/350Nm 2-litre diesel engines, paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
The Harrier retails from Rs 14.40 lakh to Rs 21.09 lakh, rivalling the Jeep Compass, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Safari, which is priced from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 22.02 lakh, takes on the Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and the Mahindra XUV700.
