Tata Motors may roll out Nano CNG by 2012 end or early 2013

Rumor has it; the Tata Nano CNG showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo will be launched sooner than the Tata Nano diesel. The much-awaited Tata Nano diesel will be hitting the Indian showrooms next year since the whole diesel plan will take around a year to get materialized. Next to diesel, another fuel bagging a lot of attention is the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) because of its low running cost in comparison to both petrol and diesel. Tata Motors who is currently working on the CNG version for Nano has an interesting plan chalked out for it; this car will be made dual fuel car with CNG and petrol as propelling options.

Tata Nano CNG
The Nano CNG will be housed with the same 624-cc twin cylinder petrol engine that is doing duty in the Tata Nano petrol some changes would be made in order to support CNG. Coupled with a 4 speed manual gearbox the Nano CNG's engine will be producing as much power and torque as the petrol variant. The petrol tank will have a capacity of 15 liters and the CNG tank will hold around 35 liter of CNG. The CNG tank has been positioned very cautiously in order to avoid cramping up the already minimal luggage space of Tata Nano. A manual switch is provided to enable easy switching between the petrol and CNG fuel options. Tata Motors is using the latest technology in the field of the CNG vehicles which is known as sequential injection. This latest sequential injection technology is a very efficient one with its optimum performance and capability of conserving the fuel to the fullest without making the car experience any kind of power loss.

The Tato Nano CNG has also been blessed with a detection system esp for the leakage of fuel which would immediately cut off the CNG supply even if a mild leak is detected. To keep its cars from catching any more attention because of their blowing up in ashes, Tata Motors has taken extra care to equip all its cars with additional features to avoid any kind of fire accidents in future. The Tata Nano CNG is expected to be priced around Rs. 10,000-15,000 higher than the current Tata Nano petrol. The car will thankfully not lose its ‘cheap' price tag. Though still under construction, the speculations surrounding the Nano state that Tata Motors will be releasing the CNG version of Nano by the end of 2012 or by the beginning of 2013 before the launch of much-anticipated diesel variant of Tata Nano. The price of Tata Nano diesel is expected to be a little less or a little more than Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
