Tata Motors one of the largest manufacturers of automobiles in India will help the super luxury British brand, Jaguar Land Rover to make smaller engines as per the emission norms of Europe. Tata Motors has always come with winning products in the market. From producing the smallest and the cheapest car Tata Nano to the India's first crossover Tata Aria, the company has been conquering the Indian market with its compact cars, mid sized units and utility wheelers.
From past few years, Tata Motors has been expanding vastly in the international arena. It started with taking over Daewoo Truck manufacturing in 2004 in South Korea, in 2007 joint venture with Marcopolo enabled manufacturing of low floor buses in India. One of the biggest is 2008's acquisition of British Luxury car brand Jaguar and Land Rover. The deal also includes Dailmer, Lanchester and Rover and with these super luxury brands under the company it is cementing its position in the International market.
Tata Motors that now owns Jaguar and Land Rover is planning to develop smaller size engine for the British Company. The company wishes to capture the local talented engineers to redesign the engine into a compact size. This move has been particularly taken because of the Europe's new norms. As per the norms issued, the size of the engines has to be reduced. The step has been taken in concern with the environment. Currently, the engines they are manufacturing are from Ford which are larger than than the prescribed in the emission norm. Tata Motors will assist Jaguar Land Rover R&D with its expert knowledge and experience in the industry. In the passenger cars the engine is above 3 liters which is going up to 5.5 liters. Tata Motors will help the British brand to produce the compact engine at low costing which will help both the auto giants.
As per the sources it is also stated that JLR will improve the cabin space and other interiors of the new crossover from Tata family.
