The inside of the Nexon facelift looks more modern and sophisticated, just like the outside
Update (14/09/2023): The Tata Nexon facelift has finally been launched, with introductory prices starting at Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Nexon facelift was recently revealed and is all set to go on sale on September 14. The exterior and interior profiles witness a styling revamp for a more modern and styling look. While much has been said about the bold new look of the 2023 Nexon from the outside, let’s take a closer look at the revamped cabin which is what you’ll be looking at most of the time if you do choose to buy one.
While the older Nexon carried the black and beige dual-tone shade throughout the cabin, the facelift gets a black and grey theme. For a more premium look, there are brushed silver accents, soft-touch materials, and faux carbon fibre finish on the dashboard.
However, Tata did not stop there for the new Nexon interior. Based on the variant and exterior colours, buyers can get different interior cabin themes. For instance, the black and violet interior is available with the Fearless Purple exterior shade which is limited to the top-end Fearless variant.
One of the first new details spied about the updated Tata SUV was its steering wheel. The Nexon facelift flaunts a new and futuristic-looking two-spoke steering wheel, similar to the one seen on the Avinya concept. The glass panel in the centre houses the backlit Tata logo, with various controls on either side. You get audio and telephony controls on the left, with instrument cluster and cruise control on the right.
The all-new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display is a BIG step up from the pre-facelift’s digitised cluster. The display looks crisp and the interface looks classy and smooth. You can scroll through a variety of information including the current playing song, average fuel efficiency, digital speedometer, and such.

The even cooler thing here is the full screen navigation view, which is a feature clearly taken from luxury cars.
The smaller and now outdated 7-inch touchscreen system is replaced (in higher variants) by a bigger and more premium 10.25-inch floating infotainment. It’s still a Harman Kardon unit but employs a 9-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer and supports Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In the topmost variant seen here, it also gets slimmer bezels for that premium feel. The new touchscreen system is borrowed from the Nexon EV Max, Safari, and Harrier. In our review, we observed that it was even more refined and the experience was even better.
Tata has expanded the touch interface experience to the central console with haptic touch for the climate control panel below the main dashboard. You still get physical toggles to adjust the fan speed and temperature, unlike the touch climate panel in the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Other touch controls here include those for the 360-degree camera, boot release and central locking.
Below this, you still have the cramped recess where you can’t store anything of size but this is where you can find a 12V socket, a normal USB port, and a Type-C port.

There’s also the added convenience of a wireless phone charger on the console tunnel in place of the usual storage recess with a sliding cover.
Tata still misses out on cupholders in the centre console, and still offers a place for your cup inside the glovebox lid design. This is also where you’ll find the now typical Tata integration of Indian fauna with a sketch outline of a tiger.
The Nexon gets a foldable centre armrest for the rear passengers with two small cupholders. While it skips out on a headrest for the middle occupant, it gets 3-point seatbelts for all the five passengers.
The rear passengers can use the USB and C-type charging ports, which are placed below the rear AC vents.
The Nexon gets a boot capacity of 350 litres, which remains unchanged over its pre-facelift version. Going by the previous results, the SUV should be able to fit 2-3 suitcases easily.
Safety is covered by six airbags (standard), tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors.
Powering the Nexon facelift are the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol option gets choices between a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine can be opted with 6-speed manual and AMT transmissions. Also, the automatic transmissions now get the benefit of paddle-shifters.
We’re expecting the Tata Nexon facelift to be priced from around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival the likes of Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite and Hyundai Venue.
