Tata Nexon Facelift Base Smart Variant Detailed In 7 Images

Modified On Sep 14, 2023 06:26 PM By Tarun for Tata Nexon

The base variant is only available with the petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission

The Tata Nexon facelift has just made its market entry, with prices starting from Rs 8.1 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets a comprehensive makeover inside and out with many new feature additions, like a 10.25-inch touchscreen system and a digital driver’s display.

The facelifted Nexon continues with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, but the petrol now gets four transmission options: a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed DCT.

It is available in four variants: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless. If you are planning to go for the base-spec Smart variant, explore it first here in our image gallery.

The base-spec Smart variant doesn’t look too different from the higher variants. The closed-off grille with the dual air dams is the same, and so are the split headlamps. It features LED headlamps and DRLs, but the setup is different compared to the other variants. The welcome light function and sequential turn indicators are available from the higher variants. Even the front skid plate has been skipped.

This variant uses 16-inch steel wheels without the steel cover. The size of the tyre is the same as the top-end variant, but is slightly thinner in profile. While it gets turn indicators on the ORVMs, the body-coloured door handles and roof rails have been skipped.

The rear profile flaunts the connected LED tail lamps, but without the “X” motif and any sequential animation. The base variant misses out on a rear skid plate and rear wiper/washer.

Tata offers the Nexon’s Smart variant in three colour options: Calgary White, Flame Red, and Daytona Grey.

The cabin of the Nexon Smart variant gets an all-black theme with fabric seat upholstery. It still gets the cool-looking two-spoke steering wheel with a backlit display housing the Tata logo. This variant gets the usual digital instrument cluster and not the premium 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

It features multi drive modes, manual AC, front power windows, central locking, tilt-adjustable steering, and a 12V socket. It gets a practical recess in the place of an infotainment system so that it does not look out of place, as well as physical dials for the climate control. The next-in-line Smart+ variant features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, all power windows, and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

ISOFIX child seat mounts, three-point seat belts for all passengers, six airbags, ESP, and rear parking sensors are standard for all the variants. There are no rear AC vents, which seems a big miss.

The base Smart variant is limited to the petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. Upgrading to the Pure trim will reward buyers with the diesel option and a 6-speed manual transmission for both powertrains.

The 2023 Tata Nexon Smart variant is quite basic, missing out on several necessary features. The option of an automatic starts from the Creative variant, which is priced from Rs 11.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
