The 3rd gen Audi TT goes on sale in Germany

The third generation Audi TT, showcased at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, goes on sale today in Germany. The new TT which has been caught testing on the Indian soil plenty of times, starts at a price tag of €35,000 in Germany (approx. INR 28 lakh) whereas the sportier TT-S costs €49,100 (approx. INR 40 lakh). However, the vehicle is expected to enter later this year in India. Furthermore, Audi offers this third generation models in three avatars TT, TT-S and TT diesel globally, but currently in India TT is only offered with a 2.0 liter TSFI engine. Lets see if diesel comes along with the next-gen sportscar in India.
The 3rd generation of TT is based on the VW's versatile MQB platform and is nearly 50Kg lighter than its predecessor and packs all the latest gizmo's. Externally, it resembles the TT family but looks sharper and aggressive, while on inside it features Audi's future dash design layout. Interior looks elegant and less claustrophobic, the highlight of the interiors is the 12.3-inch Nvidia powered instrumentation cluster with built-in navigation.
Lighter construction and upgraded engine helps the new TT petrol to zoom 0-100km/h in 6 seconds with manual, while the S-Tronic is zipper with 5.3 seconds and the TT-S variant does it in 4.7 seconds. The diesel powered TT attains the 100km/h milestone in a brisk 7.2 seconds.
The engine of the 2015 Audi TT has been uprated, the 2.0 liter TSFI turbocharged petrol motor churns out 230bhp & 370 Nm of torque, while the sportier TT-S produces 310bhp & 380Nm from the same motor. The oil burner in the new TT is the 2.0 liter four cylinder unit gathering 184bhp and 380Nm of max torque.
Globally, transmission choices available in the TT are the 6-speed manual and 6-speed S-Tronic. Currently in India, Audi imports the coupe and offers only a 2.0 liter petrol version with S-Tronic quattro AT transmission, expect the things to remain same in the upgrade to.
