The S Class Mercedes Benz has been in the market since 2005 and is about to phase out from the market soon. The engineers and designers are putting in a lot of hard work to give the car a finishing touch, which will be replacement and is due to be launched next year. The new next generation Mercedes Benz S Class will be more technologically advanced and as classy as possible but there are no indications as to what should be the expectations from the car. But one of the technical breakthroughs that will be found in the next-gen S-Class Mercedes is the nine-speed sequential automatic gearbox called as 9G-Tronic in technical language.
The nine-speed box has been developed as a successor of the very existing seven-speed gear box. The car with nine-speed box has become more fuel efficient and rides more smoothly and quietly. The gearbox will be placed horizontally in the car and will be adaptable to every drive train, which includes entry-level turbodiesel mill and a powerful gasoline engine. This gear box will be used in both the models: rear-end and all-wheel drive. Also this technology will be used in the hybrid variants.
It may be possible that the nine-speed gearbox will be used in the other models of the Mercedes-Benz after its success in the S Class model. The new generation S Class will be available in four different types of body styles. The first variant of the car will be available within two wheelbase lengths and will be similar to the current S-Class. The second model is a coupe, which is spacious and it will replace the CL Class Mercedes. The third model may be a limousine which can be similar to the 600 Pullman of the 1960s and 1970s. The last model is expected to be the Ocean Drive concept which was displayed at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show.
