The Tata Safari will set you back anywhere between Rs 17.80 lakh and Rs 25.70 lakh (on-road New Delhi), but one glance at the Safari GTS Concept, and you may just agree to increase your budget substantially. That’s the beauty of this concept design visualised by Shashank Das, a car rendering expert, who has a drool-worthy Instagram page called SDESYN. There you can check out his other works, which feature his unique take on many cars.
Here’s our take on the Safari GTS Concept with inputs from Shashank. Enjoy the pictures!
When asked about his inspiration behind the Safari GTS Concept, he said it was a desire to see Indian cars with that sporty aura right out of the showroom. This pushed him to visualise the Safari in such a manner, and we have to say, in this Porsche-inspired shade of Carmine Red, this Safari would draw more eyeballs than anything else on the road.
All the chrome on the Safari has been painted in a gloss black finish which perfectly complements the red body colour. A closer look reveals the interior has been blacked out too. The seats, apart from being black, feature a red highlight.
The roof has also been done up in black, giving the GTS Concept a dual-tone look. When we enquired about the cost of this look, SDESYN said the most economical way of achieving it is via a wrap. A typical wrap for an SUV costs anywhere between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh, depending on the brand.
We honestly believe this is one of the best angles to look at this car. The ride height of the GTS Concept has been lowered to give it that hunkered-down stance. There are two ways of achieving this: adjustable (air) suspension or lowered springs. Air suspension is the more expensive option, but it gives you more flexibility. They start around the Rs 1 lakh mark. Lowered springs are a much cheaper alternative, although you will have to run a fixed ride height with them.
The alloy wheels are another great highlight of this GTS Concept. The Rotiform LAS-R 20-inch, wheels combined with the low profile tyres, fill out the wheel arches perfectly. The centre cap has also been replaced with original Tata units. Standing still, the wheels give the Safari the appearance of a sports car! These wheels are priced around Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per wheel, meaning a set could easily set you back more than Rs 1.50 lakh. There is also the cost of the tyres.
With this awesome design, you may have missed out on the ‘Safari GTS’ decal on the bottom of the front doors. It’s a small addition but makes a world of difference in adding to that sporty vibe of the car.
Overall, this level of customisation with Safari is quite possible. According to SDESYN, you will need a budget of around Rs 5 lakh to achieve this kind of a look.
