Anand Mahindra, chairperson, Mahindra And Mahindra, has been giving SUVs to those who have achieved notable feats in global competitions or contributed to the nation. This includes sports personalities, Olympians, and various other Indian athletes. Recently, Anand Mahindra also offered a Mahindra Thar to the father of cricketer Sarfaraz Khan. Here is the list of athletes who have received gifts from Anand Mahindra in recent years.
Naushad Khan (Sarfaraz Khan’s Father) - Mahindra Thar

Sarfaraz Khan recently made his debut in the test squad of the Indian cricket team, scoring half-centuries in both innings against England. His father, Naushad Khan, was present to witness his son's remarkable performance firsthand. Naushad Khan has been a constant source of inspiration for Sarfaraz throughout his cricketing journey. Recognizing this, Anand Mahindra recently tweeted an offer to gift a Mahindra Thar SUV to Sarfaraz Khan's father.
Neeraj Chopra - Mahindra XUV700
In 2021, Neeraj Chopra secured a gold medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics with a record-breaking Javelin throw spanning 87.58 metres. In a gesture of gratitude and respect toward the athlete, Mahindra presented Neeraj Chopra with a specially customised 'Gold' edition of the Mahindra XUV700. This special XUV features a midnight blue colour with subtle golden accents, and the side fender that displays the badge "87.58," marking the distance of his remarkable javelin throw.
Avani Lekhara - Mahindra XUV700
Paralympic medalist Avani Lekhara was also honoured with the specially customised 'Gold' edition of the Mahindra XUV700. This recognition came after her performance at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, where she clinched a gold medal in the Women’s 10 m Air Rifle event and a bronze medal in the 50 m Air Rifle event. The customised XUV700 features a unique powered seat with forward and return functionalities. The movement of the seat facilitates easy entry and exit for the co-driver by moving the seat out of the vehicle and lowering it down.

Deepa Malik - Mahindra XUV700
Deepa Malik played a major role in the development of the wheelchair accessible version of the Mahindra XUV700. After awarding this customised version of the SUV to Avani Lekhara, Deepa Malik also got the Mahindra XUV700 as a token of appreciation from Anand Mahindra. The SUV underwent modifications, including the installation of an electronically controlled swivelling front seat and other enhancements, to improve its usability and enable her to drive it with ease.
PV Sindhu & Sakshi Malik - Old Mahindra Thar
Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu brought pride to India by securing the Bronze and Silver medals, respectively, at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sakshi made history as the first Indian woman to win an Olympic wrestling medal, competing in the 58 kg freestyle category. On the other hand, PV Sindhu also brought an Olympic medal in badminton to India. In celebration of their remarkable accomplishments, both athletes were honoured with Mahindra Thars.

Dutee Chand - Mahindra XUV500

Dutee Chand, an Indian sprinter who secured a spot in the women’s 100m sprint event at the Rio Olympics 2016, was awarded the Mahindra XUV500 SUV. The XUV500 was the predecessor to the XUV700 and one of the brand’s most popular models at the time.
Srikanth Kidambi - Mahindra TUV300
Srikanth Kidambi, a badminton player who won the Australian Open Super Series 2017 had been gifted a Mahindra TUV300 SUV. Srikanth Kidambi defeated his Chinese opponent, Chen Long, to win the Super Series.
Six Cricketers Got Mahindra Thar

In 2021, the Indian cricket team won the Gabba series against Australia. As a token of appreciation for their contribution during the series, six cricketers who made their debut for the Indian team were gifted Mahindra Thars. The recipients include Mohammad Siraj, T Natarajan, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, and Navdeep Saini.
