Passenger safety in India has rightfully gained significant importance while customers make a buying decision, and carmakers are now constantly working to meet the customer’s demands. Whether it's making a few safety features as standard or improving body structure for a better crash test score, cars are now getting safer in many ways. A big safety technology which was made available on India-spec models only a few years ago, ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), is now also making its way onto many mass-market cars. Here are 5 of the most affordable ones that get this safety technology:
Hyundai Venue
The Hyundai Venue has been recently updated with a suite of ADAS features. Its ADAS tech includes features like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and high beam assist. The Venue gets these features on its top-spec SX (O) variants, prices of which start from Rs 12.44 lakh.
Honda City
Honda City is one of the first cars in India which got this technology. It had ADAS on its pre-facelift version (but only on the City Hybrid), which was then introduced in the current City with the midlife update. Its ADAS suite includes lane keep assist, high beam assist, auto emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Honda offers these features from the second-from-base V variant of the compact sedan and prices for the ADAS-equipped variants start from Rs 12.51 lakh. Do note that the City only gets camera-based ADAS, which might not function properly in low-light conditions.
Honda Elevate
Another car from the Japanese carmaker, the Honda Elevate, is equipped with a set of ADAS features. The ADAS tech of the compact SUV is the same as the Honda City and that includes it being a camera-based system. The Honda Elevate gets ADAS on its top-spec ZX variants, prices of which start from Rs 14.90 lakh.

MG Astor
MG Astor was the first car in its segment to offer ADAS features when it was launched and now other brands have followed suit. It gets radar-based ADAS from the one-below-top Sharp variant of the compact SUV which includes features like lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot detection. Prices for the Sharp variants start from Rs 15.15 lakh, but if you want more ADAS features, you can get the top-spec Savvy variants of the Astor, which also gets ADAS tech like adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking and lane keep assist.
Hyundai Verna
Launched this year, the new Hyundai Verna is the second car in its segment to offer ADAS features. Unlike the Honda City, the Verna comes with a radar-based ADAS setup which includes features like adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and high beam assist. These features are available on the top-spec SX (O) variants of the compact sedan, prices of which start from Rs 16.20 lakh.
ADAS is now starting to become a popular feature and is helpful in the prevention of accidents if implemented correctly. Which ADAS-equipped car would be your preference, let us know in the comments below.
