These are some of the most iconic celebrity endorsements for cars in India, including some partnerships that are still continuing
It is no secret that brands use celebrity endorsements to woo potential customers and make themselves or their products look more appealing; and carmakers are no different. This is in addition to them improving and updating their products on a frequent basis with more features and styling changes. Over the past two decades, we have seen many popular celebrities endorsing cars and car brands. Here is a list of our top 10 Indian celebrity picks who act(ed) as brand ambassadors in the country’s automotive industry:
Sachin Tendulkar - BMW India and Fiat Palio
Considered to be a God in Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar endorses a lot of products and acts as a brand ambassador for many companies. One such company is BMW India, which appointed Sachin Tendulkar as its brand ambassador in 2012.
But BMW was not the first car brand to have Sachin endorse their products. In 2001, Fiat made Sachin Tendulkar the brand ambassador for its soon-to-be-launched model, the Fiat Palio. Fiat also made a special limited-edition of the Palio dedicated to Sachin called the S10 and this name was the combination of his initials and his jersey number. Sachin Tendulkar launched the Palio S10 himself.
Shah Rukh Khan - Hyundai Santro and Hyundai i10
The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, is also a man who endorses many products. But in the world of cars, King Khan was signed as the brand ambassador of Hyundai Santro when it was launched in 1998. SRK was later seen endorsing the Hyundai i10 and since then he has become part of the Hyundai brand images as a whole. Recently, the carmaker hired cricketer Hardik Pandya as the brand ambassador for their upcoming micro-SUV, the Hyundai Exter.
