Mahindra’s showrooms will undergo a revamp by 2022 to reflect the carmaker’s new direction
Mahindra has revealed its new logo and the upcoming XUV700 will be the first SUV from the carmaker to carry it. However, the changes for the Indian carmaker are far more important than just changing the insignia on the front of its SUVs. Here are 5 things we learned from the reveal of the carmaker’s new logo:
1) Mahindra Outlets Will Receive A Makeover By 2022
1300 Mahindra touchpoints in 832 cities will undergo a change by next year to reflect the brand’s new identity. Mahindra hasn’t fully revealed the extent of changes, but the carmaker also plans to move on from its red and white colour scheme. The new colour palette will use charcoal as a primary colour, with grey and red being used for highlights.
2) Current Mahindra Vehicles Will Also Get The New Logo
The XUV700 will be the first Mahindra to feature the new logo. However, the carmaker revealed that current vehicles in its lineup would also receive the new logo, albeit in a phased manner. This was evident from the brand film as well as the XUV300 and the Thar that were in it.
3) Commercial Vehicles And Farm Equipment Will Continue To Use Old Logo
Mahindra’s commercial vehicle and farm equipment division will continue to use the old ‘Road Ahead’ logo. This has been done to create a clear distance between the personal mobility sector and from these other divisions of Mahindra, to help paint a new premium picture for Mahindra cars.
4) Mahindra Will Focus On Offering AWD Vehicles
Mahindra’s focus has always been on offering vehicles that can take the road less travelled, but in recent times, other carmakers have shied away from offering 4WD or AWD in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh segment, as it increases the price. Mahindra however emphasised in the brand film that it wanted its cars to retain their go-anywhere, and that is evident because the XUV700 and the upcoming Scorpio will both offer 4WD/AWD capabilities.
5) Mahindra Establishes Itself As A Premium Player
The change has been coming for some time now. It started with the XUV500 a decade ago, and the likes of Marazzo, XUV300 and the new Thar took it forward. The XUV700 however is here to cement this new change, establishing Mahindra as a premium player in the market. The new logo and outlet renovation go hand in hand with Mahindra’s new goal.
Bonus Point - XUV700 Will Get A Striking Blue Shade
It was a very subtle hint but we did manage to catch it. In the brand film, the new Mahindra logo can be seen against various natural backdrops. In one of these backdrops, a XUV700 can be seen in the reflection of the logo, and it seems to be decked in what looks like a royal blue shade. The shade is unlike anything else we’ve seen on Mahindra cars, and we can’t wait to get a better look at it.
