Toyota Etios to be tagged at an attractive Rs. 5.25 Lakhs

Toyota Kirloskar Motors will bring in Toyota Etios with an attractive starting price of around Rs. 5.25 Lakhs. Toyota Etios is specifically designed considering the Indian conditions and other emerging markets. Etios is expected to give a stiff competition to other successful cars like Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento.

Industrial sources of Toyota have recently announced that Toyota Etios price (1.5 litre petrol model) is expected to start with the attractive Ex-Showroom price around 5.25 lakhs. A senior official stated that pricing of Toyota Etios will be agiven at an initial price range of Rs. 5.25 lakhs to give it a more competitive edge in the domestic market. Toyota has also intimated that they would be launching the diesel model of Etios later next year while the petrol hatchback of Toyota Etios will be launched around March 2011.

To mount up the sales of Toyota Etios the Japanese automaker has recently invested Rs. 3200 crores in a new manufacturing facility near Bangalore with the production capacity of 70,000 units annually that shows Toyota's critical approach and ambition towards Etios.

Sandeep Singh, Deputy MD of Toyota Kirloskar has declined to comment on the price of Toyota Etios and said that the exact pricing of Etios will be disclosed as and when the car is launched on 1 December. The deliveries of this car will start from January next year.

Moreover, Toyota is planing to increase their market share in the fastest growing automobile market, India and China with the launch of Etios. At present Toyota does not possess a strong market share in India and is looking ahead to achieve a 10% share in the domestic market by next year. Toyota currently offers four cars i.e. MUV Toyota Innova, premium sedan Toyota Corolla Altis Toyota Camry and SUV Toyota Fortuner. This year Toyota expects the total sales to reach up to 73,000 units and it would double by next year with Etios in the market to 1,45,000 units. In Sedan models, Toyota is hoping to increase their number of sales with Toyota Etios in que. Presently Maruti Swift Dzire and Honda City dominate the sedan segment in the domestic market.
