Volkswagen is one of the most appreciated and prominent car maker across the globe and in India, it has been successful in making its mark in so little time. Now to go up in the Indian car market, Volkswagen is apparently going to launch its cute Volkswagen Beetle in diesel manifestation. The diesel variant of Volkswagen Beetle will be revealed at the much awaited Chicago Motor Show this year. Plans on launching Volkswagen Beetle diesel is certainly because of the sky rocketing petrol prices. Demand for diesel cars in India is soaring high and looking at this massive demand, this German auto giant might launch the Volkswagen Beetle diesel in India in near future.

So far, the specification of Volkswagen Beetle diesel hasn’t been officially revealed but, apparently, the car will come with 2.0 TDI engine, which is seen in maximum diesel cars manufactured by VW, such as Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat and Volkswagen Golf. The engine would be very efficient and will churn out 140 BHP of power accompanied with 236 lb-ft of peak torque. The engine would be wisely mated with six speed manual gearbox that would deliver an awesome mileage of 22 km per litre.

Since the time of its launch in 2009, Volkswagen Beetle performed very well in terms of sales in India. The exteriors of the car have major hand in increasing the sales. The bug-shaped car is counted amongst the most successful ones from VW’s stable. Coming back to Volkswagen Beetle diesel, the cost factor might be an issue. But because of the rising demand for diesel cars in India, there might be lots of takers in the country for the new Volkswagen Beetle diesel.
