Volkswagen Group India achieves 180.7 per cent sales growth in 2010

Volkswagen Group in India is climbing success ladder as the company recently posted its best sales figures in the domestic auto market. The German auto company is present in India with three of its brands, Volkswagen, Skoda Auto and Audi. The company achieved a growth of 180.7 per cent by delivering its cars to the customers from January to December, 2010. The company (including all the brands together) rolled out 53,341 cars to the buyers in the last year over 19,001 cars in the previous year.
Volkswagen Group has set a record in 2010 by launching three new cars that have received accolade from the buyers. The Polo Cup launched in India alongwith the training academy started by Volkswagen and various other initiatives have also been admired by the Indians. The brand is cementing its position and is all set to achieve the top position in the domestic auto market. In 2010 the company increased its dealership to 163 and its employees from 2,116 in 2009 to 4,537.
Volkswagen Group has grown as the biggest selling car brand by selling 30,319 cars in 2010 over 2,801 cars in 2009 and increasing its sales to be more than 500 per cent. Audi registered a growth of 81.1 per cent by selling 3,003 cars in 2010 over 1,658 cars in 2009. Skoda Auto sales accelerated from 14,535 to 20,019 cars.
Dr. John Chacko, the Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited was extremely delighted and said that the increasing sales figures has given the company confidence and the company's position is better in the Indian auto market. The company always strives in giving its buyers technologically advanced cars. He also mentioned that Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento have been well accepted by the company and are doing quite well in their respective segment. He further said that 2010 second half witnessed a major growth as it gained the momentum by launching Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Yeti. The company also hasten its manufacturing in the Chakan unit and the company rose with its dealers. He concluded that Volkswagen Group is hoping to excel again in 2011.
