Volkswagen Group sells more than 7 million vehicles for first time

For the year 2010 the German auto company Volkswagen registered accelerating car deliveries, and hand over nearly seven million cars and since its inception, it has happened for the first time. 7.14 million cars were sold in 2010, over 2009's sales of 6.29 cars which account to an increase of 11.3 per cent. If looking at the international passenger car segment the company showed accelerating sales figure which helped it enjoying a meaty chunk in the market. In December, Volkswagen Group also registered a sale of 545,400 cars against 2009 sales of 444,200 cars recording an increase by 22.8 per cent.
Christian Klinger, the Group Board member for Sales said that the 2010 year sales showed that the company is on the right track in terms of growth. He said that 2011 is year where the company is planning to increase in its array of cars with advance technologies which will levy the base of the company's success.
The German Group in Asia delivered 1.92 million cars last year against 1.40 million cars, with a hike of 37.4 per cent which is a new record in itself. In India, the company observed an accelerating growth as the company delivered more than 53,300 units for the year 2010 over 2009's 19,000 cars which accounts to a rise of 181 per cent. If looking at Volkswagen Group sales for the Asia/ Pacific region by delivering 2.14 million cars in 2010 against the 2009's 1.55 million vehicles which shows a growth of 38.5 per cent.
In South America, Volkswagen Group delivered 888,000 in 2010 over 815,100 cars which shows a hike of 8.9 per cent. In US the company delivered 360,000 cars in 2010 over 2009's 298,000 cars which showcase a growth of 20.9 per cent.
In the West of Europe which excludes Germany, VW sold 1.85 million cars in 2010 against 1.66 cars registering a growth of 11.6 per cent. It exhibits that the the company grew better with an increase of 1.9 per cent for 2010. In Central and Eastern Europe the company delivered 423,200 cars for the year 2010 against 2009 381,900 cars accounting to a rise of 10.8 per cent. Russia was again very promising with a growth of 39.5 per cent.
On its homeground, Volkswagen Group rolled out 1.04 million cars in 2010 against the 1.24 cars in 2009 and registering a decline of 16.8 per cent. It is said that the company accounts to the scrapping scheme responsible for the same.
