Volkswagen receives 1,600 entries for the Polo Cup India 2011

Volkswagen has closed the registrations for its second season of Polo Cup India with record breaking 1,598 participants enrolled for the event. The motor sport aficionados and the new breed of racers from India have enrolled for the race.
Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited is elated over the response. He said that the response has been quite overwhelming and the increasing number showcases the popularity of the motor sport.

Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Motorsports, Volkswagen India, stated that the success will continue and for this year he said it will be faster, bigger and will have new exciting surprises. Various companies are joining the sport and for the German auto brand it is a proud moment.
Volkswagen Polo Cup has received 1,598 entries from the country of various age and experience. The drivers are mainly from West and South of India between 16 to 20 years of age, in it the amateur driver ranges to be 60 per cent. For the Polo Cup, Amron Karting Challenge was used as a tool to select the drivers for the cup which happened in 9 cities in India.

The process of selection will be in three stages : first online registration which is over and second the karting in Pune. The winning teams will get a chance to participate in the finals which will be held in Coimbatore at Amaron Karting Challenge.
Just like its debut season, in the 2011 Volkswagen Polo Cup will come with record contenders. 20 in number aged between 16 to 24, will fight out for the cup. The cars will be loaded with well tunned engines which will come from the German's auto mobile factory.

The Volkswagen JK Tyre Polo Cup India inaugural event was success. The 6 leg event started in a different street race in Pune which commenced on 30th May. From 1,100 entries only 20 were given the place to lash out to win the cup.
