Volkswagen reckons new car models for India

The German auto brand Volkswagen is considering to introduce various cars in India based on the demand in the Indian car market. This could also include the possibility of launching its upcoming latest small car Volkswagen Up! in India. According to Volkswagen, while the present focus of the company is on Europe for its impending launch of the small car, they are testing the conditions for the Indian market as well. They need to check the options for localization of the car to bring down the cost to much affordable range.

Volkswagen seems to have big plans for its Indian operations and they are currently concentrating on strengthening their presence in the car market than diverting their efforts towards ramping up their export potential. Their intention lies with increasing their localization from current 70% to over 80% in near future. Apparently, the German auto brand is looking for improving the vendor base and component supply for India as well as the other companies globally. The company's ability to meet the expectations based on the above factors will be the key deciding factor for the introduction of the VW's small car line-up including VW UP!

Neeraj Garg of VW India had reportedly informed that despite the discouraging market conditions in automobile sector in India, things have started looking bright with the amazing performance of their models VW Polo and VW Vento. The company is said to have invested a sum of Rs 3,800 crores in a manufacturing facility in Pune that has the capacity to produce upto 1,30,000 cars per year. Depending on various tests conducted VW will have its new cars introduced; which could be a small car, a seven-seater, a sedan or an SUV. The company is also focusing on improving their dealer network in the country for greater accessibility.
