Volkswagen AG will soon take the reigns into its hands to deal with the sales of luxury Porsche cars in India. The Porsche cars have been selling under the Precision cars India banner so far. Now, Volkswagen will launch the Porsche brand in India in 2012, the company will inducts models like Porsche 911, Porsche Cayman, Porsche Boxter, Porsche Panamere and Porsche Cayenne in the country. However, the best part of the deal is they will continue to sell in the same price range as of now, that is between Rs 70 lakhs to Rs 3 crores. Volkswagen AG has well set of plans laid out for Porsche in the country. The father company is now into major organisational restructuring similar to Audi. A team of 15-18 members will be given the responsibility to pitch the sales for Porsche cars in India. To begin with, Porsche is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG just like Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda. Be it the high price tag or the poor dealership, the Porsche cars are not quite popular for its high sales volumes. Volkswagen AG is now all set to turn around the sales for Porsche cars in India.

However, the plans will work out if the Porsche car sales begin to climb uphill soon. Until now all the Porsche cars are imported to the Indian shores as Completely Built Units (CBU) and will continue with the same for some time now. The strategy might probably begin sometime in future with the partial assembly of Porsche Cayenne SUV in India. So, one might be right to assume, the Porsche Cayenne price to come down slightly in near future if the plans go through. Going forward, Volkswagen might share its manufacturing plants with Porsche to save up on a separate assembly plant for the latter. The Volkswagen’s Aurangabad plant or the Chakan plant near Pune could be the plants where the Cayenne SUV could be assembled.
