Volkswagen Up! hatchback unveiled

The Volkswagen Up! production version had been unveiled as the cheapest car available under the Volkswagen’s product portfolio in India including the other car markets. The hatchback is expected to hit the Indian roads early next year. Volkswagen Up! is going to be launched in Europe this December it will be available in the Indian car market in three variants, these are Volkswagen UP! - take up!, move up! and high up!. The high end model will however have two models based on it- the up!white and the up!black. Volkswagen Up price is expected to fall in the range of Rs 3-5 lakhs, the hatchback is likely to give a tough competition to Hyundai H800 and Maruti Alto.

Incorporated with the new safety technology system called the City Emergency Braking, the Volkswagen Up! will turn automatic at 30 kmph and the laser sensor alerts the user with the impending risk of collision. The subcompact hatchback houses a 1 liter, 3 cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 60 PS and 75 PS power respectively. The cutting-edge Bluemotion technology is incorporated in Volkswagen Up! along with the start/stop technology that is enabled in the recent cars.

The Volkswagen Up specifications reveal a 3.54 m long, 1.64 m wide and 1.48 m in height hatchback with a wheelbase at 2.42 m, the Volkswagen Up! is the longest in the segment. The folding rear seats provide larger leg space than in the Maruti Swift. The compact hatchback is built on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform to use the same front wheel drive and the front engine layout. The Volkswagen India had recently launched their new Volkswagen Jetta at an introductory price of Rs 14.12 lakhs in four variants, with the high-end variant offering both the manual and the automatic gearbox.
