Volvo Auto India to launch cheaper versions to amplify sales

Big giants of auto market like Audi, BMW, Mercedes and others are getting lush and plush car sales. Volvo Auto India is planning to launch some cheaper version of few of its models in order to magnify its sales. As per reports, the new MD of Volvo Auto India, Mr. Tomas Ernberg has reportedly expressed that Volvo has plans to remove few features from its models and make the prices of the cars more lucrative and competitive.

However, it is a well-known fact that Volvo doesn’t make its cars in India. The present products by Volvo Auto India are not manufactured in India and are imported. This import makes the Volvo cars further pricier as compared to its competitors in the market today.

The Volvo car prices land between the price tag of Rs. 38 Lakh to Rs. 55 Lakh. Plus the import duty in the country is a whopping 110% that further makes the Volvo cars more expensive and costlier.

A cheaper variant of Volvo cars will surely help Volvo Auto India to cut down the price of its car models and vie with the other luxury car makers like Mercedes, Audi and BMW. All these German car manufacturers have their assembly plants in India, which thereby make their cars viable and affordable for Indian consumers. Also, these luxury car manufacturers offer limited and special edition car models at a very viable price that in turn is successful in luring consumers.

Volvo Auto India has pretty high expectations that stripped down variants of its cars will help the firm in amplifying the sales to a great extend. Volvo Auto India is basically a part of Volvo cars of Sweden that is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company, which is a Chinese Auto maker. Some of the most popular and prominent cars of Volvo include Volvo XC60, Volvo S 80 and Volvo S60.
