Volvo is all set to launch its new stalwart sedan, Volvo S90, making the fight tougher for cars like Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class etc. The Swedish carmaker has issued two teaser images for the car that is likely to replace S80. The only difference for the S90 will be its higher positioning in the market.
Taking inspiration from the Concept Coupe design study, S90 is almost production ready. The front face gains particular attention because of narrow headlamps with ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED signature. Apart from this, a chrome touched rectangular grille supported with vertical slats and a sharp bumper makes the front all the more unique and elegant. Talking about the side, smooth sheet metal surfaces with a tight fitting parabolic roof give a sophisticated look to the car. The daylight opening on the side profile and the humongous C-shaped LED taillights at the rear make it more stylish.
The leaked model also gave a glimpse of interiors of the car. S90 has got many similarities with the new XC90. Be it steering wheel, TFT instrument panel or centre console display; all are borrowed from its SUV sibling. It is based on the same SPA (Scalable Platform Architecture) that supports the new XC90 and will have 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 8-speed gearbox. Top variants of the car will also give an option of AWD and hybrid assistance.
