Volvo S60 to launch on 10th March 2011

Finally its time to put an end to all the speculations and guesses as the most awaited luxury barge, Volvo S60 will make its official entry in the Indian auto market on 10th of March 2011.The news has been confirmed by the Volvo India’s officials. Volvo S60 will carry a price tag of Rs. 30 lakh in the Indian auto market. The Swedish car maker with this launch will bring the cheapest car model in the Indian portfolio which will be a straight competition to market players like BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4.
The most awaited mode, Volvo S60 is the second-generation car which sports a long list of safety features with few never seen before. Recently a feature of the car called Pedestrian Detection was in news for its enumerable accuracy and sophisticated technology. The system is indulged in applying automatic breaks in case the car traces an object in front trough its radar and camera senses. Another spectacular feature in the car is Blind Line Information System (BLIS) which is never seen in any model launched in India.

The car is also embedded with many stand out entertainment features like GPS, five- or seven-inch screen mounted on the central console and audio with surround-sound system. The consumers will have the option to choose their interior trims also.
If the international market is considered, the car is available in many engine options like 1.6 litre, 2.0 litre and 3.0-litre petrol engines and 2.0-litre D3 and 2.4-litre D5 diesel engines. For now no information is given as to which variant will land on the Indian shores.

The car comes with superior styling features among which comes the Volvo patent front grille placed at the lower part. Volvo S60 also features a sporty tail-lamp which gives it a unique identification in market.
Volvo is planning to establish an assembly plant in India when an annual sales target of 2000 units is achieved. For now the company is bringing completely built unit in India.
