Volvo to Launch 2015 XC90 on 12th May in India

Volvo India will bring the much awaited second generation of XC90 in India on May 12th, next week! Since its reveal last year, XC90 is grabbing eyeballs worldwide unlike its not-so-inspiring first generation model, which was indeed over 12 years old now! Like before, the major competitors of the XC90 in India will be the successful Audi Q7, BMW Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class amongst others. Moreover, this will be the second launch in the country this year by the Swedish automaker, after the petrol version of the V40 Cross Country last month.

2015 Volvo XC90 offers two petrol and one diesel engine globally, all 2.0-liter; along with a range topping plug-in hybrid version - XC90 T8. Speaking of the India, we’ll most probably get the diesel option only. Adding on the specs, the 1969 cc four-cylinder turbodiesel extracts a healthy 222 bhp at the engine speed of 4250 rpm, 470 Nm of max twist starting from 1750 rpm and maxes out at 2500 rpm. The motor will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Talking about the features, 2015 XC90 is a completely different territory compared to the first gen SUV both inside-out. The SUV is based on Volvo’s new SPA (Scalable Platform Architecture) and is considerably lighter. On the inside - there’s a huge Tesla Model S like touch infotainment system which supports both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
