Volvo XC60 R-Design Launched at Rs 51 lakh

Volvo India has launched the XC60 R-Design at Rs 51 lakh while few days back the luxury carmaker introduced the S60 R-Design priced at Rs 40.10 lakh (Both prices, Ex-showroom, Delhi). The R-Design trims get cosmetic changes such as newly designed front bumper, 18 inch diamond cut alloys, black honeycomb air dam, black grille with R-Design badge.
The other extra features embraced by the R-Design are ORVMs with silver finish, two chrome exhausts and a visible diffuser. The R-Design also gets an exclusive new Passion Red shade. While inside the cabin, the vehicle features R-Design seats, R-Design steering wheel, an upgraded audio system and paddle shifters for quick shifts. Moreover, in terms of safety, the car gets rear view camera, satellite navigation and an infotainment system.
Mechanically, both XC60 R-Design and S60 R-Design are powered by Drive-E engines. Powering the R-Design cars is the newly developed 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder Drive E engine which churns a power of 178bhp and peak torque of 400Nm, while earlier the cars used to develop a power of 160bhp. In the gearbox section, the 6-speed automatic gearbox is replaced by an 8-speed automatic unit.
Furthermore, the manufacturer revealed some technical details about its second-generation XC90, which will be marking its presence at a special event in Stockholm, Sweden later this month. XC90, will be the first Volvo to embrace company’s brand new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), which according to manufacturer has been under development by company engineers for four years. With SPA, the manufacturer lowers the curb weight and a more even weight distribution for the vehicle. Maximum number of components are brand new, including the 'Thor's Hammer' T-shaped LED daytime running lights. The XC90 is also powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor powering the rear axle. The total combined output of 400 bhp and 640 Nm, with batteries enough to cover 40 kms alone.
