VW India introduces first Volkswagen Group Technical Education Program

Volkswagen India has taken the responsibility to generate employable talent for the auto industry in India. The company launched the Volkswagen Group Technical Education Program (VG-TAP) yesterday (11th February 2011) in the Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic in Pune. VW Manpower Development Program known as VG-TAP has been unveiled marking as an aim to generate industry ready professionals. The German auto company in India is offering technical and training support to the educational establishments to nurture the youth for employability in the automotive sector. Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic in Pune is the first educational institute in India that VW group in India has associated with to start the VG-TAP program.

Volkswagen Group India as part of the project has given Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic best equipment for training purposes. Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Jetta has been given to the institute so that the students can get an experience of  working on the best technology. The Volkswagen Training Academy will train the teachers also at the Pune based polytechnic institute.

Mr. Maik Stephan, Managing Director- Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited said that Indian auto mobile industry is increasing rapidly, accrediting to the a ever increasing demand for talented and young professionals in the auto motive sector. The company is offering the programme which centers at generating talent for the auto industry by training the students in the purposed aspects of the auto mobile in technology and customer service.

Mr. Piyush Upadhyay, Executive Director- Human Resource and Administration- Volkswagen India Private Limited present at the inauguration said that VG-TAP ensures technical knowledge in the coming generation of students to make them professionals.

Mr. Hildebrandt, Director Group Service, Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited stated that Volkswagen Group Technical Education Program (VG-TAP) matches up with the demand of the present Indian auto market. The increasing auto sectors demand for the technical expertise will be inculcated in the youth through this programme. The trained professionals will be given a chance to work in the Volkswagen dealerships across the nation.

The training will benefit the students with knowledge on the new age automotive technologies via a certificate course. It will not only support the students but the Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic institute will also be benefited in terms of technical knowledge, training faculties and much more.The institute also suffix the required infrastructure such class room and workshops.

The programmes like VG-TAP program, ITI (Mechanic Motor Vehicle & Diesel Engine Mechanic) & Diploma(Mechanical & Automobile) will train the students, Prof. P R Khatawkar, Principal, Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic was elated and said that it is a big leap for the college to be associated with Volkswagen group India. It will help the students in knowing the technical knowledge and help them with employment opportunities.

The teachers from the educational institutes will be trained by the experts from Volkswagen Training Academy at Chakan, Pune. After the teachers will complete the training they will train the students further. In the end it will follow with an exam conducted by Volkswagen Training Academy. And after the successful completion of the programme they will be awarded with a certificate ‘Certified by Volkswagen’.
