VW to bring Toyota Innova's competitor

Volkswagen plans to acquire the position of Toyota Innova, yes it is being highly speculated that Volkswagen plans to launch a car on the lines on Innova. The German auto mobile giant is expected to build a new car model to take over Toyota Innova's position in the Indian auto market. Sources close to the development said that the German auto biggie is not denying the reports. At present the company is looking at all the van models to bring in its current portfolio. However, the sources also said that Volkswagen Caravelle is being ruled out of the race as it is expensive.
The German auto company is also looking forward at the Geneva Motor Show 2011, it is working towards the Microbus concept also known as Bulli. It is designed to flaunt the original 1950 cars, at the same time it also has a tinge of modernism, the cars two tone design has very a squat stance and locomotive nose.

The new concept six seat is 3.99 meters long, 1.75 meters wide and 1.7 meters tall. It means that it will be a three seator both in the front and rear. Volkswagen may also increase the wheelbase as per the Indian road conditions and is likely to add three rows in the car, offering more space.
As per Volkswagen, a 1.0 litre petrol, 1.4 litre petrol and 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine may be loaded in the new car model. The Volkswagen Microbus interiors will feature a detachable and removable iPad in its centre console, the seats could be folded easily to make it a compact camper. A stereo made with Fender is expected to be attached in the car which will give the feel of live music being played. It is also being speculated that the new Microbus will be based on a long version of Volkswagen Golf platform (MQB).
