Takeaways

Maruti WagonR: The WagonR sits comfortably at the top of the table with sales of more than 10,000 units in June. However, the compact hatchback from Maruti saw a sharp decline in sales compared to May, registering an almost 30 per cent MoM (month-on-month) decline. That said, the June sales are still not far off from the average sales of the last 6 months.

Tata Tiago: Tata’s Tiago reclaimed the second spot on the list by registering a MoM growth of more than 55 per cent. However, the Tata hatchback was slightly off its average sales figure over the last six months by more than 700 units.

Hyundai Santro: The Hyundai Santro’s sales have dipped when you look at the monthly figures for the compact hatchback over the last six months. The trend remains the same when you compare June’s numbers to that of May, which saw a decline of more than 15 per cent.

Maruti Celerio: The Celerio’s sales dipped by more than 7 per cent compared to the previous month. This has become a trend for the Celerio as it was behind its average sales over the last six months by more than 2700 units.

Maruti Ignis: The Ignis is the only Maruti on the list whose numbers went up when you take into account MoM numbers and average sales over the last six months. It commands a market share of more than 10 per cent.

Datsun GO: The Datsun GO’s numbers continue to take a tumble, falling below the 200 unit mark. Its market share has fallen below 1 per cent.

Total: The segment on a whole saw its MoM numbers drop by over 8 per cent.
