Its prowess on the road is guarded with a range of important safety features. Also present is a tire pressure warning system, a seat occupancy sensor for the front passenger, a central locking system and an automatic locking facility for the doors. And with other notable features include an illuminated glove compartment, electrical adjustment, and memory facility for the driver's seat. Bluetooth interface provides a central hub for hands-free calling and audio streaming within the cabin. The power-train generates a torque of 200Nm at 1250rpm to 4000rpm, coupled with a power of 122bhp at 5000rpm. Mercedes-Benz showcased the 2019 A-Class hatchback at an event in Amsterdam on February 2, 2018. The new A-Class gets an all-new design and thanks to its larger dimensions, it is more spacious than before. It is the first car in the German manufacturer’s lineup to be equipped with the MBUX (an AI-based infotainment system). Other features offered on the new A-Class include various driver assistance systems such as distance assist, emergency stop assist, active lane change assist and active brake assist. Mercedes-Benz has not yet said anything about its launch in India yet. However, it is expected to go on sale in our country later this year. Read More
The third generation of the A-Class is already on sale in India and is priced between Rs 29.89 lakh and 30.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in two variants: A180 Sport and A 200 CDI.
Powering the A-Class is a 2.2-litre diesel and a 1.6-litre petrol engine which produce 136PS/300Nm and 122PS/200Nm, respectively. Both engines are mated a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The engines are fairly powered and the A-Class is sweet to drive in the city and on the highway.
Features offered on the A-Class include LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, 8-inch infotainment screen with a 20 CD changer, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Garmin navigation, rear parking camera and push-button start, among others.
In terms of safety, the A-Class gets six airbags, ABS, attention assist, adaptive braking, Electronic Stability Program and Acceleration Skid Control.
Currently, the A-Class hatchback has just one rival in India, the Volvo V40 as the BMW 1-Series hatchback was discontinued in 2017.
