Verna 2015-2016 1.6 CRDi S Option Review
Hyundai is currently the second largest automobile company in India, where it has tasted the success with its sleek sedan Hyundai Verna. This car has the fluidic body structure, which makes it look like a lustrous vehicle. For increasing the sales in the market, the company has launched its updated version with some modifications in exteriors and interiors. It comes with a refreshing front fascia with large projector lamps, redesigned bumper, boomerang shaped fog lamps, dual slat chrome grille and a slightly bigger air dam. Its side profile gets the same diamond cut alloy wheels, while rear end gets a new LED tail lamp cluster. The company is selling this model in petrol and diesel engine options for the buyers to select from. Its Hyundai 4S Fluidic Verna 1.6 CRDi S Option is one of the mid range variant. The South Korean automobile company has fitted this particular variant with a 1582cc diesel mill, which can produce impressive power and torque outputs of 126.2bhp and 259.8Nm respectively. It is integrated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in producing about 22.3 Kmpl on the highways and 17 Kmpl approximately in the city traffic conditions. The braking and suspension mechanism are quite proficient. It is further augmented by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution. It will compete against the likes of Fiat Linea, Chevrolet Sail, Toyota Etios, Tata Zest, Maruti Ciaz, Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and others in this segment. The manufacturer is selling this sedan with a standard warranty of two years or unlimited kilometers.
Exteriors:
Starting from the front fascia, the company has given this variant a redesigned radiator grille that is fitted with two chrome slats. There is a prominent company logo embedded in the center of this grille. It is surrounded by a trendy headlight cluster that comes in a swept back design and is incorporated with high intensity projector headlamps. Interiors:
This Hyundai 4S Fluidic Verna 1.6 CRDi S Option trim has the best in class interior cabin with eye-catching design. It carries four cylinders and sixteen valves using double overhead camshaft based valve configuration. This common rail based engine can churn out a maximum power of 126.2bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a maximum torque of 259.8Nm between 1900 to 2750rpm. It is coupled with a six speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. It enables the sedan to zoom towards a top speed in the range of 185 to 195 Kmph, which is rather remarkable for this segment. At the same time, it can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 11-13 seconds.
Braking and Handling:
This trim is blessed with a highly efficient braking mechanism that ensures precise stopping. Its front wheels are fitted with a set of disc brakes, while rear gets a conventional set of drum brakes. It is further augmented by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution. Its front axle is assembled with a McPherson strut with stabilizer bar, while its rear axle is fitted with coupled torsion beam axle type of system. The front and rear axles are further assisted by gas filled shock absorbers and coil springs, which improves its ability to absorb all the jerks caused on the road. On the other hand, the company has incorporated this sedan with a speed sensitive steering system, which is quite responsive. It reduces the efforts of driver when maneuvering this sedan even at a low speed. This tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters.
