Here, we are with another new car Road Test, this time it is the Ford Figo Diesel - the higher end Titanium variant . Before going into its performance, handling and comfort, let me take you to the heart of the Figo; under the bonnet, it has a 1.4 litre Duratorq TDCI, 8V SOHC, 1399cc, diesel engine that cranks out maximum power of 50.7 kgm at 4000 rpm and belts out maximum torque of 16.3 kgm at 2000 rpm through 5 speed manual gearbox. The claimed 0-100 kmph mark in 15.8 seconds is quite approachable. The Ford Figo Diesel delivers a combined mileage of 19.5 kmpl that is justified with its 1.4 TDCI engine.

The exterior of the Ford Figo Diesel takes design cues from its Fiesta and Fusion; the Figo shares the platform of Fiesta- a proven and well-known product of the company. The front side of the car comes with wide headlamps, sleek front grille with bold company logo and rounded body bumper; the air dams design looks like Nissan Micra (Micra is launched after Figo). The rear side view of the car appears simple but cute, with sloping roof and blacked out door frames. The Ford Figo Diesel sports a wider rear side attributed by vertically stacked tail lamp and high stop third brake light.

The cabin of the Ford Figo Diesel is quite wonderful when compared to Skoda Fabia and Hyundai i20, especially the spacious cabin. The company offers two types of dashboard in terms of shades; it comes in Coral and black finish; however, we totally fell in love with Coral one. On the inside too, the Ford Figo Diesel takes several things from Fiesta such as the steering wheel, in-dash controls, etc. The car gets cool instrument panel that illuminates when headlights are on and disappears when headlights go off. The easily readable instrument console also features distance to empty display. The conventionally designed round AC vents are fully adjustable that prove its worth in hot weather; the AC system can turn inside atmosphere chilled in a few minutes. The Ford Figo Diesel is also blessed with CD/MP3 player along with Bluetooth connectivity. Other cabin features include front power window, door pockets, integrated head restraints, cup holders, etc. but missing the rear power windows, 40:60 split folding second seat row and adjustable steering wheel. Both the seat rows offer ample leg room and head room. The Ford Figo Diesel is also blessed with safety features that include dual front airbag, ABS with EBD, intelligent central locking, lap strap for the rear centre passenger, front and rear 3 point seatbelts, etc.

The 1.4 litre, Duratorq TDCI powertrain of the Ford Figo Diesel offers great low and mid-range driving pleasure and fantastic handling. The gearbox of the car allows finer shifting and transmits the engine output intelligently. However, awesome, the pick-up might be a concern with this machine, but overtaking is a fun. Overall, the Ford Figo Diesel is a smarter car with roomy interior, appealing exterior, on par ride quality, better handling and much more.
