Nissan Motor India launched the Nissan Micra a few months back in India and we got a chance to drive it in Chennai; the Nissan Micra XV was tested on open roads and crowded city routes and we'd like to tell you about the experience behind the wheel. Here we go - We were lucky enough to get our hands on the top-end model i.e. Nissan Micra XV, this variant has got every possible features of other lower variants plus additional stuff that makes it the higher-end model.
The outside view of the Nissan baby grabs your eye in a single glance, thanks to its stunning design and well-placed components. The headlamps of the Nissan Micra XV seems to be influenced by Porsche Panemera that wears pushed back round design, single chrome finished slat at front grille, larger lower air dam and respected Nissan logo just above the front grille. The side view comes with noticeable body colour door handles which add to the classic look of the Micra.
The small car has been fitted with Volkswagen Beetle like bulging out tail lamps cluster..Not only the exterior but also the interior of the Nissan Micra XV comes with appealing fit, finish and features.
The instrument panel is of the first class quality and technology; it has easily readable speedometer and multi-information display that shows real time fuel efficiency and fuel status, etc. All most all the in-dash components are placed in round shape that includes climate control, audio system, AC vents, audio controls etc. Now let us give you a brief story of how the Nissan Micra XV behaves when driving; with the 1.2 litre, DOHC, 3 cylinder petrol engine, it offers you smooth driving and class leading feel for sure.
The mill of the Nissan Micra produces a top power of 56 Kw at 6000 rpm and generates highest torque of 10.6 kgm at 4000 rpm via a five speed manual transmission. As far as the engine performance is concerned, the Nissan Micra XV powertrain scores over any 16 valve engine with its great refinement and response, particularly the mid-range power. After 3,000 rpm till the height rpm, we notice remarkable pulling power from this light weight engine.
The driver has to shift gears every now and then in city roads but it fills you with fun when you get your hands on it. The rigid suspension of the Nissan Micra XV deserves special mention as it increases drive quality and ensures comfort by eating up small to broad potholes with no error.
The suspension system coupled with rigid chassis give desired stability to the Micra, this also helps the vehicle to go past 130 kmph with zero vibration. The car enables you to take sharp turns with the help of butter smooth steering wheel.
The seating arrangement in the Nissan Micra XV is very impressive; the front seat row has comfortable seats but with any adjustment, rear seat row also gets nice headroom and legroom; however, driver seat adjustment and a little more room in the rear seat could tag it the most occupant friendly car in the segment. Right behind the rear seat row, a spacious trunk space is provided that can be further increased by folding down the second bench type seat.
