Tesla Model S expert overview
Exterior
-
Since its debut in 2012, the design of the Tesla Model S has remained relatively unchanged. There were minor updates to the visuals in 2016 and then in 2021.
-
The Model S is a large electric luxury sedan that measures 5-metres in length. It’s roughly the same length as the long wheelbase versions of the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series.
-
The design has interesting details such as full-LED headlights, smoked out tail lamps and flush-fitting door handles.
-
In global markets, Tesla offers alloy wheels ranging from 19- to 21-inch.
Interior
-
The Tesla Model S 2025 is offered with three interior colour options: full-black, black-white and cream.
-
Walnut-coloured wooden accents are offered for that premium touch.
-
Tesla has opted for a simple design layout and moved all controls to the central touchscreen.
-
A design highlight is Tesla’s ‘yoke steering’ which gives the cabin a spaceship-like feel.
-
Rear seat space is on-par with similarly sized luxury sedans.
Features
-
Tesla’s massive 17-inch central touchscreen can control practically any car function. It also has a left-right tilt functionality
-
The touchscreen also features ‘Tesla Arcade’ that lets you play games and consume content on the screen itself.
-
A 12.3-inch screen acts as the driver’s display and relays all vehicle-related information.
-
Rear occupants get a flip-down armrest and their own 9.4-inch central screen to control car functions.
-
Tesla also offers an ‘Autopilot’ feature in the Model S 2025 which can drive autonomously without any input from the driver.
Safety
-
The Tesla Model S has received a full 5 star crash safety rating from Euro NCAP
-
Safety features include ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, electronic stability control, along with dual front, dual front knee, side, central and curtain airbags
-
The Model S 2025 also comes with Tesla’s famous Autopilot self-driving capability that can manage all aspects of driving. This includes lane changes, road sign and traffic signal reading, overtakes, pedestrian detection, detours and parking
Boot Space
-
At 709 litres, the 2025 Tesla Model S offers plenty of boot space for at least two large suitcases and some smaller bags along with them
-
The rear seats fold down to store larger items such as bicycles or long boxes
-
There is storage space for a soft bag under the bonnet as well which can be used to store a portable charge cable or other items
Performance
-
The Tesla Model S is available with dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard while the Plaid variant of the Model S gets three electric motors for added performance
-
As standard, the Model S produces 685PS of power, going up to 1020PS for the Plaid version
-
Both variants of the Model S offer easy performance for daily use and supercar levels of acceleration. 0-100kmph takes just over 3 seconds in the standard 2025 Model S and 2 seconds in the Model S Plaid
-
Claimed range figures sit between 560-660km on a full charge, depending on the model chosen. The car gets a 100kWh battery pack with a usable limit of 95kWh
Variants
-
Globally, the Tesla Model S is offered in two variants: All-wheel Drive and Plaid.
-
If Tesla launches the Model S in India, it is likely to be offered in the standard, All-Wheel Drive variant.
