- One lovely Multi Pleasure Vehicle !Years back when the much hit vehicle from Toyota, The Qualis, (originally Toyota Kijang) came to India, not many knew that the third generation of the previously launched Toyota Kijang in Indonesia, would soon became one of the most popular car in the country. Even though critiqued for an outdated design, it didn?t seem to affect the sales of the MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) ? be it as city taxis or as personal vehicles. Toyota pulled the plug on Qualis in 2004 only to give birth to another beautiful range of MPVs ? Innova. Strangely as it was observed, the demand of Qualis, as used cars and as taxis rose significantly after being discontinued by Toyota.Back then, I owned a top end, misty beige Hyundai Accent which was a good buy - a sporty sedan with enough power and stability to push through 140kmph+ with ease. I was beginning to look for alternatives and that?s when I when I fell in love with the next best thing in the succeeding range of cars. Innova, the vehicle that can carry up to 8 adults, is more comfortable and is non-tiring to drive in city?s excruciating traffic or long rides unlike Accent where the bucket seats were seated lower than other cars causing stresses on the lower back and this drive comfortability is a huge positive personally, as my father rarely complains of his hurting back when he?s at the back of the wheel driving our Innova!I?ll be reviewing the 2011 top end model of Toyota Innova which I?ve had and how proud I am of buying it.EXTERIORComing from the Qualis, it?s a considerable and a noted upgrade, be it ? under the hood changes or dimensions. However, the 2011 model from 2005 has very few exterior upgrades - muscular, if I may and premium chrome grills all over making it aesthetically lovable and appreciable. The idea of making it a bit more aggressive & muscular than the previous mellow, was a bang on spot as it clicked.Newer tail lamps were bigger ? taller and wider than before with a sporty real spoiler which are some of the critical areas of changes from the first generation of Innova. INTERIORThe biggest selling point here is the amount of space offered inside the MPV which is not likely to be seen elsewhere. The top model comes is furnished with light coloured wood, giving it a premium feel on the arm rest with quality fabrics on the seats which are the optimum cushiony one would love to sit on.I?ve never had to change the fabric in my car but quality leather does add a more premium feel to it.The entertainment system, though lacks lustre, does the work. I recently installed Sony touchscreen system with rear camera and sensors and now the upgradation feels like my car is no lesser than any car from 2016!TECHNICAL ASPECTS AND DRIVINGFour cylinder with Intercooler Turbocharger, Innova has a 5 speed gear box with Maximum torque of 200 @ 1200 ? 3600 rpm and produces 100 HP and this 4 wheel drive vehicle hoards a magnanimous 2.5 L engine!!This MPV handles roads, traffic and highways majestically, good quality rides mixed with riders comfort makes it the better of the other opponents. This vehicle is not made to over clock, or to burn tires by ripping it at higher rpms. This is a very mature and powerful vehicle and should be only driven the way its designed and fit to be. No much changes have been made with respect to this aspect from the previous generation of InnovaCONCLUSIONThis smooth running vehicle is known for ride quality, driver?s comfortability and that?s where it has struck gold in India. Indians are more family oriented and we travel in groups, with large families around and this car is the perfect suit Indians needed after Qualis. Though I paid about 15 lakhs for my version back in 2011, I am a very happy customer till date and even though I feel the current Innova Crysta may have gone a little overboard with the pricing, the only lack lustre interior problems Innova had has been completely taken care of and given the positive feedback from users, investing in the new Crysta is going to be a pretty good choice. -From a satisfied Toyota CustomerRead MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- A Combo of Power and LuxuryToyota Innova is a car I dreamt of from the time I was a kid. The popularity of the car says it all. I was able to get my hands on the Innova from November 2014 and since then, I haven't thought of owning another car within the same price range. Engine: I drive the 2.5 VX Diesel which produces a sufficient amount of power in city as well as on highways, unlike the other MUVs that produce more power unnecessarily. The only downside is that the engine is not well refined in terms of sound which becomes very loud after crossing the speed of 110 KPH.Comfort: There's no doubt that the Innova is the best MUV in its class for the luxury it provides. The captain seats in the second row are a boon to the car. My usual 700 km straight trips are not tiring at all. The car does not disappoint the driver as well as the passengers at high speeds. Even though the third row seats are not comfortable for long trips, they are definitely better than its competitors and provide lots of space for luggage when folded. Not to forget, the powerful AC with individual air vents for all the three rows could not be better.Styling and Interior: The 2014 face-lift was the best of all. The enlarged front grill gives it a brighter look, unlike the predecessor. Even though it is a typical MUV when it comes to styling, it does grab some eyes on the road. The dual tone interior of beige and grey is pleasing to the eyes. The quality of plastic used is very decent which does not look cheap at all. The wood finish plastics on the central console and doors give a premium look to the car. The integrated sound system with a touch screen and rear camera display are perfect. The steering mount audio controls work just fine. Even though the glove box is a bit small, there are tonnes of other places for storage, like the sunglasses holder, a storage box behind the handbrake and lots of bottle holders to stay hydrated. Mileage: My city driving involves driving in crowded areas with a heavy usage of the clutch and breaks. But keeping in mind the size of the car, 10.5 kmpl in city and 13.5 kmpl on highways sounds good to me. Value for money? I do agree with the fact that the Toyota Innova has been the costliest MUV in the Indian market. I did hesitate to put in 16.5 lacs while buying this car, but today, I can confidently say that the comforting experience with this car totally justifies the high price. Some desperately needed improvements;- Poor cabin insulation for engine sound at high speeds.- Frequent visits to the service center, not because of issues but due to servicing scheduled at every 5000 kms, Really?- Lack of cruise control in 2014 models which all other competitors already have.Final Verdict: One can never go wrong with this car if they have the bucks to buy it.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- InnovaThe Toyota Innova has been the Japanese automaker's most successful sales in 2010. The Innova had remained pretty much the same until the showcase of the Innova Crysta at the auto expo 2016 and Toyota Innova is the best car in price segment, this car has 2393cc best powerful engine with a weight of 1805kg and 15.1 kmpl mileage . It has disk brakes on four wheels and a manual-shift 5-speed gearbox. Toyota takes their people moving business rather seriously. And we?re not talking about simply transporting people from point A to point B. We?re talking about ferrying them in comfort. Toyota Innova has been on the forefront in accomplishing this task from the day they launched the Innova in India, a few years ago. In fact, it has practically been the undisputed leader of people movers. But since its launch, not much has changed on the Innova. Sure, there have been a couple of aesthetic changes routinely, but nothing too significant on the mechanical side. It's beside the point that with every update, Toyota has been calling it an 'all new? Innova. This time, we check if it lives up to that claim. With this iteration, Toyota has tweaked the grille to make it bigger and more profound. It goes lower into the bumper and has three horizontal slats finished in chrome that is more spaced out than before. The front bumper too goes under the knife to get a redesign which houses the fog lamps with chrome surrounds. The hood gets sharper creases to make the styling more modern. At the rear too there?s been a generous splash of chrome ? in the form of a plate running horizontally through the width of the boot. The tail lamps boast of a new design as well. But apart from that, there?s nothing much that has changed from its earlier avatar. Of course, there are new body decals on the side, but you get them only on the top-end variant. The top-end variant we?re talking about here is also ? 'all new'. It sits over the earlier VX and is christened as ?Z?. It gets more goodies than any variant has ever received. What?s new here is the addition of two-tone leather seats and darker faux-wood finish on the dashboard and door panels. Like the earlier top-end variant, it gets a media system with USB and aux inputs and steering-mounted controls, reverse camera, and auto climate control in the creature comfort list. The feature list for the rest of the trims remains more or less similar to the earlier versions. Mechanically, Toyota has not bothered fiddling with what was already good. It has the same 2.5-litre diesel engine, good for 101bhp and 200Nm. It puts out power in a linear manner and controls the turbo lag well. The only drawback of this motor is that it?s on the noisier side and that noise creeps into the cabin when the revs are piled on. The motor is mated to the same five-speed gearbox. The shifts are decently smooth but the throws are long. The ratios are on the shorter side despite it being an MPV that?ll spend most of its time on the highway. That, in turn, affects the kmpl figures. Our run on the Innova, the onboard computer showed a mileage of 9.3kpl with both highway and city driving ( through TopGear road test pending) . The Innova is the best seven-seater with its handling characteristics. It?s almost car-like and boasts a sorted ride quality. Again, it?s the best people, mover, when it comes to controlling its weight in India. Not much body roll and not too much of vertical pitch. Toyota has not revealed the prices of the ?all new? Innova, but we expect the top-end Z variant to priced Rs 35, 000-40, 000 more than the earlier top-end. The price for the other variants will see a marginal increased. It's not the only car its inspiration for all the car manufacturer. If you car on trip and talk to your driver how is comfort level he will say that I don't fell like driving so its overall the best option to buy if you want to buy a car in budget and can compete for any other car its the best you can buy and if your family is big don't worry it comes with 7 seats so ultimate SUV. Again want to say one thing that Innova is very comfortable with great interior features. I wish it had more mileage but it can be compromised over the stylish and classy looks of the car. The AC to is excellent and the drive is smooth and relaxed. The interiors and exteriors are fantastic, it does not seem like a diesel vehicle by anyway. The cost of maintenance also has been low for Toyota Innova compared to my other previous cars. I have a large sized family and I feel that Innova is a great car. If you are taking the family on tour it would be a great experience.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Toyota Innova: Useful But OldHi, my name is Shyam Yadav and I have a taxi business. I own 4 Innova cars and now, 4 years later, the cars have started to get old. They do not break down but I have to keep replacing some or the other part. The AC is not as effective as it used to be and the engine has also lost a lot of power. The car is still comfortable and smooth, but the cabin quality has really declined. The seats have become hard and the dashboard also looks really old. The noise coming into the cabin has also increased. I drive an Innova myself had have owned it for 2 years. My car has not been much affected by these problems but slowly, I can see these things happening. The outside graphics have come out and the paint has also started to fade. Seats are still comfortable and the AC also works well. The mileage of the cars has also declined. Earlier, I was really happy with the mileage but now, I have to keep a constant check on the drivers to get decent kmpl figures. Also, the vibrations in the engine have increased. I often get concerned over the noise and vibrations from the engine, but they automatically go away in some time. I really hope the car do not further deteriorate in quality or I will have to replace my entire fleet with the Innova Crysta. I still say that the Innova is a good car but you really have to carefully maintain the quality of the car for the best results.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Toyota Innova - Reliable, Trustworthy and VFMLast year we were looking for a reliable 7-seater car for our family and ended up with the top-end Innova. We all know if reliability is in question then there is no other option than the bullet-proof Toyota Innova. This vehicle has proved its reliability over time since it was almost over a decade old. Tata Aria being its true competitor lacks in a few major factors despite being loaded to the brim with stuffs like 6-airbgas and majorly the 4WD setup. Things like reliability, longevity are alien concepts to Tata along with a not so good after sales. Coming back to the Innova, overtime Toyota has incorporated plenty of goodies to keep the Innova running. But a lot of things appear out of the place in its dashboard which looks like it came from a 90's car. To start with, the touchscreen is totally poor including the rear view camera (there are no guidelines). And everything looks out of the way, the automatic AC has 'deathly' green backlit while the instrument cluster has blue and white one. How on earth you can have different backlits in various interior elements. Talking about the refinement, the moment you crank it up the gearshift shakes like nothing on earth it continues to do so while the vehicle is driven around. In a nutshell, if you want a comfortable people mover and will be chauffeur driven then look no further. The sheer comfort it offers when you're not driving it is unmatched in its class of vehicles. But now you have to buy it from the used car market or else go for the new Crysta, which is in a league of its own!Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Go Innova!I can just say one thing about this car is a favorite family car. None of the other cars can be such awesome in comparison with this vehicle. If you are spending 15 lakh amount on a car and if according to your family you want a car then just go for it. Mahindra Scorpio and Xylo can not even think of competing with this car. Innova provides huge cabin space, comfort, average, looks, status everything in a decent price then why to go for another. According to the maintenance, yes it will be little expensive but in comparison with others it is definitely excellent. I went to Jammu with my family in INNOVA. When we reached, couldn't even understand the car provided us so much of comfort and space. We enjoy a lot and average and smoothness of car touch us very much. Simply I can say that Innova is BEST.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
