Renault Pulse expert review
Overview
Prior to the launch of the Kwid, the Pulse was Renault’s most affordable car in India The hatchback is essentially the Nissan Micra in a slightly more upmarket avatar and has a higher starting price too. Does the added money just get you something different or something more?
Verdict
The Renault Pulse, standalone, is a great city car.
Even more affordable cars like the Tata Tiago have entered the fray, so the Pulse is a hard sell.

- Renault Pulse A Nice Car Which Failed To Leave Its Mark
I really loved the car since the day I first test drove it. Renault Pulse is one of the finest compact cars that one would love to drive. It has been a great experience driving my pulse on long journeys, highway performance is also good as the acceleration is quite amazing, so overtaking is not an issue. Renault Pulse features sporty front radiator grills and headlamps while the interiors give amazing fresh appeal. In terms of space, the cabin is quite comfortable, especially at the rear. Pulse is loaded with features like electronic power steering, automatic headlamps, remote sensing auto mirrors and electrically adjustable ORVMs. There are few amenities in the safety department too with the car getting driver's side airbags and ABS with EBD. Pulse is powered by 1.5L diesel mill that can churn the output of 63bhp and 160Nm of torque. Renault Pulse is always called as the copy of Micra, but this car has its own appeal. It gives a very different feel which Micra don't have. Unfortunately, since Pulse is not a popular car in India and with much better options available such as Swift, Grand i10, and Tiago, the sales have been dwindling for a long time. So, it is unable to keep pace with the contemporaries.Read More
- Pulse packs a punch in performance as well as interiors
The Renault pulse,Nissan Micra's lookalike sports front sporty grills and headlamps. The car looks great with new fresh interiors. It is also equipped with climate control which is a rare feature in this price tag.The car has a crash test rating of 4.5 stars and also has a driver seat airbag. One missing thing in the safety front is Anti-lock braking system. The car has some features that you can't even think of in this price tag are the Anti-pinch windows, rear windshield de-fogger and wipers. The climate controlled AC is quite powerful and cools the cabin in few seconds. As far is performance is concerned this sporty machine pours pure thrust with even a slight press on the throttle.Gear shifts are smooth ,although the clutch pedal felt stiff. The steering feels very light and you can handle the car easily in any traffic. The turning radius is also good and you can easily steer the car through a U turn. Overall the car is is a perfect 5-seater family hatchback with a 1197 CC engine that gives 76 PS of power .The car has ample boot space that is enough to pack stuff for a weekend trip.Leg room and head room felt comfortable for even a 6'2" guy like me .If you are planning for a new hatchback ,go for it .This car performs in highways and cities alike.Read More
- Smooth and economical ride
I am using Maruti Suzuki alto earlier but due to petrol engine and average engine power i am not completely satisfied with the performance of car. Moreover boot space is too less. then i shifted to Renault pulse and found it wonderful car in terms of appearance . i am using pearl white color which is beautiful and shiny like real pearl . Power of engine is good and performance on road is very smooth car moves to 140-145 without any bubbling or any feel of high speed. Suspension is smooth and pick up is too good to easy overtakes . moreover compact hatch back make ride very easy in tarfic of town. Boot space of Car is also good and interior are also wonderful . Inbuilt music system also makes ride interesting . Average in Local is 17-19 and long drives 22-24 kmpl. Overall i am satisfied with car.Read More
- Better Than All The Hatch's Around
I was in confusion, like all others, when buying my first car. I went to almost all car showrooms in search of that perfect one. One car had less legroom while the other had less power and some other with fewer features. Then I stepped into Renault showroom, I didn't know much about the company except for Duster. I never knew they had a hatchback too which resembled Micra. I looked at all the features it offered, the push button start, the automatic ORVM's, the whopping 1.5L diesel Engine, no other car, as far as I know, were offering these features at that time (2013), all that in a small package. It has been 3 years now and nearly 40K Km done and I have still not faced any issues with the car *touch wood*. It really puts a smile on my face when I push that throttle, it goes like a bullet. I like everything about this car. The only drawback is service which is costlier than others around, it can be compromised for that hassle free ride. Read More
