620 Pulse and 26 Scala produced between September 2011 and July 2012 are recalled
Renault India has announced that they will recall 646 cars (Pulse and Scala) in the country. The French automaker is voluntarily recalling 620 units of Pulse hatchback along with 26 units of Scala. The recall includes both petrol and diesel variants of Pulse while affected Scalas account for diesel variants only. Both the vehicles are produced in India at the Renault-Nissan manufacturing facility in Chennai along side their alter-egos Nissan Micra and Sunny.
The recall is regarding faulty driver airbags which Renault says are supplied by the Takata Corporation (vehicles are recalled worldwide due to faulty Takata airbags). Affected Renault customers will be contacted by their respective dealerships for the required inspection.
"Renault is conducting a voluntary check on certain potentially affected Renault vehicles (620 Pulse and 26 Scala — produced between September 2011 and July 2012) which may have a possibility of driver airbag problem," Renault India spokesperson stated to ET.
