- Good quality interior with better practicality than before. The Thar is now more family friendly.
- Improved noise vibration and harshness management. Doesn’t feel crude or outdated to drive anymore.
- More configurations: Fixed soft top, fixed hardtop or convertible soft top, available as a 6- or 4- seater
MG Hector
- Feels and looks premium inside and out
- Generous cabin space, comfortable for even taller passengers
- Loaded with good features like a 14-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof
- Safety kit boosted by the inclusion of ADAS
- A refined petrol engine with comfortable ride quality
Mahindra Thar
- Stiff ride quality. Deals with bad roads well but sharp bumps can unsettle the cabin quite easily
- Old school ladder frame SUV and behaves like one. Loads of body roll even on mild curves
- Some cabin flaws: Rear windows aren’t openable, pedal box leaves no proper space to rest your left foot even in the automatic and thick B pillars create large blind spots to the side
- It’s a heavily improved/polished version of a hardcore off-roader but not an alternative to more practical, comfortable, feature rich compact/sub compact SUVs
MG Hector
- Its styling could seem too blingy to some buyers
- Has lost out on the mild-hybrid tech; still no diesel-auto combo
- Its electronics could have been more responsive
- Should have had better contoured seats and underthigh support at the rear
- Fuel efficiency of the petrol engine is still an issue
