FAQs on Suv Cars
Q ) What is the meaning of SUV cars?
A ) The term SUV originally stood for Sports Utility Vehicle that would usually be a large, tall car with lots of space and a powertrain capable of tackling most terrains, no matter the weather. It is now used as a broader term for cars chunky proportions and high ground clearance. That is why models like the Renault Kwid and Maruti S-Presso are sometimes referred to as micro-SUVs. However, the more appropriate representation of an SUV would start from the likes of the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier.
Q ) What is the difference between SUV & compact SUV?
A ) As the name suggests, a compact SUV is smaller than a regular SUV. It is usually less than 4.5 metres in length and designed primarily for urban use rather than off road. Examples of compact SUVs include Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos while the Renault Duster is a rugged exception, but it no longer gets an AWD variant. Meanwhile, conventional SUVs are larger in size with more cabin space and they usually get a AWD or 4x4 variant as well, like the Jeep Compass or Hyundai Tucson.
Q ) What is the difference between a compact SUV and the sub-compact SUV?
A ) The sub-compact SUV category pertains to SUV-esque vehicles that fall under the sub-4m tax bracket which makes them more affordable than compact SUVs. These models are similarly equipped in terms of features these days but usually get less powerful engines. The sub-4m segment is possibly the most competitive in India at the moment with over 8 models to choose from. However, the compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos record higher monthly sales, perhaps thanks to fewer competitors.
Q ) What is the seating capacity of SUV cars?
A ) Most SUVs are either 5 or 7 seater offerings. The standard SUVs are usually 5-seaters with the exception of the Mahindra XUV500 while full-size SUVs like the Ford Endeavour offer three rows of seats. Now, Tata and MG are introducing three-row versions of their standard SUVs, i.e., the Gravitas and the Hector Plus.
Q ) What are the best SUV cars in India?
Q ) What are the new (latest) SUV cars?

- Mahindra BE 6My Favorite Car Till NowI've been following Mahindra's Born Electric series for a while, and when I saw the BE.06 concept evolve into a production-ready model, I was genuinely impressed. Now that I got to experience the vehicle first-hand (test drove it recently), here's my take: First off, the BE.06 is a head-turner. Mahindra really stepped up the design game here. The aggressive front fascia, sharp LED lighting, and that coupe-SUV profile make it look futuristic without going overboard. The closed-off grille and geometric elements scream ?electric? without trying too hard. Honestly, it doesn?t feel like your typical Mahindra?this is something fresh and bold. The inside is clean and minimalistic, with dual screens that are intuitive and responsive. Materials feel premium, although there are still a few plastic bits that remind you it's a Mahindra. The seats are well-cushioned and comfortable even for long drives. Rear seat space is decent?legroom is good, but the sloping roof might make taller passengers feel a bit cramped. The electric motor is smooth, and the acceleration is surprisingly punchy for a car this size. I didn?t expect it to respond so well in city traffic and even on open roads. It handles corners decently, though it?s more tuned for comfort than spirited driving. Regenerative braking is customizable, which is a nice touch. The claimed range is around 450-500 km, which is quite good if it holds up in real-world conditions. Fast charging support is there, and Mahindra seems to be working on expanding the infrastructure. I couldn?t test long-range performance yet, but if it delivers even 400+ consistently, it?ll be a solid competitor. Loaded with features?ADAS, 360° camera, ambient lighting, connected car tech, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Mahindra didn?t skimp here. The UI is modern and surprisingly smooth. The BE.06 feels like Mahindra?s coming-of-age moment in the EV space. It?s stylish, capable, and has the features people want in 2025. If they price it right (under ?30 lakh), this could seriously disrupt the EV SUV segment.Read More
