1 lakh A-Star produced by Maruti

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker, has achieved another milestone by producing 1,00,000th Maruti A-Star. This flagship model is very popular in domestic and foreign market. Maruti Suzuki India Chairman R C Bhargava said that the flagship model,Maruti A-Star, leading the exports of the company and the firm is planning to export over 75,000 units of the car by the end of current FY.

The total export of the car will march past 1.3 lakh units in the FY 2009-10. Nissan has also increased the export order by 54,000.The Company has already exported over 50,000 units of Maruti A-Star to over 44 countries including Netherlands, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Angola, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Morocco, Libya, New Zealand and some Latin American nations. The production of the model started in October, 2008. Whereas the Manesar manufacturing facility has also achieved the landmark of producing over 5 lakh units since it start functioning.
