Honda could introduce this new 1.0-liter turbocharged engine in India as the trend of turbocharged petrol engines in the country is rising!
Honda has announced that the next-generation Civic i.e. the 10th generation model will feature two new turbocharged petrol engines 1.5-liter and a smaller 1.0-liter Turbo VTEC petrol motors. The 10th gen concept (hatchback avatar) was revealed for the first time earlier this year in America while the production spec 10th generation Civic sedan (fastback design) was also revealed last month in the US only. Both the hatch and sedan version of Civic will hit the European market in 2017 with these new 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo VTEC motors. Speaking of India, there is a possibility that Honda might re-introduce the new vehicle in the country but it appears that there is no immediate plan to do the same. The vehicle was discontinued from India couple of years ago but it has a fair amount of fan following in the country and it is also doing well in the used car market.

Moreover, Honda has not revealed the specs of the new engines that will hit the European markets with the 10th gen Civic in 2017. But went on to say that, engines use new architecture seen in the 2.0-liter motor which is on sale with the 2015 9th gen Civic Type-R along with a low moment of inertia turbochargers and direct injection technology (similar to that of the other turbo petrol engines in the market).
