Skoda has announced a series of update on the 2014 Rapid compact sedan, which has now become more attractive, faster and responsive. The vehicle comes with updates on both inside and outside, and will go on sale in international markets on August 5. The interiors of the Rapid will be updated with new three-spoke steering wheels, new decorative trims and seat covers as well as other enhancements of the design. Also, modern xenon highlights will be available as an option.
The 2014 Skoda Rapid will also get a new 1.5-litre TDI common rail diesel engine, which will broaden the range of engines of the sedan. It is now combined with an automatic seven-gear dual clutch transmission or a manual five-gear transmission. Additionally, it also has an environment-friendly Green tec version on offer for the new entry-level diesel. The Green tec package includes fuel consumption-reducing technologies such as the automatic start-stop mechanism, brake energy recovery and rolling-resistant tires. The CO2 emission of the Rapid 1.6 TDI Green tec amounts to just 104 g/km, with normal consumption being 3.9L per 100 km.
The 2014 Skoda Rapid has also received xenon headlights having a luminous flux up to 2,000 lumen, as an option. This system requires no headlamp leveling and headlamp cleaning system yet, and it costs lower as compared to xenon headlamps with higher lumen output at roughly comparable intensity. The same might also come to India, but the company hasn't revealed anything about it.
