Hyundai is making world debut of the Elite i20 ‘Cross’ in March, this vehicle is country’s second largest automaker’s fend to the riling hatch turned crossovers segment - VW Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and the recently launched Fiat Avventura, which is indeed growling at Ford EcoSport. We bring you the 5 things you must know about the 2015 Hyundai Elite i20 Cross which is launching in the second week of March.

Projector Headlamps, DRLs and LED Taillamps

When Elite i20 debuted in Indian market Hyundai did not equip the hatch with projector headlamps, DRLs and LED taillamps, but they are in the European i20 which introduced couple of months later featuring all these. This said, the spy pictures of Elite i20 Cross in India revealed further that the car would sport projector headlamps, daytime-running-LEDs along with LED taillamps.

All-around Body Cladding

Like every other cross hatch, Elite i20 Cross also features all around body cladding and will certainly come with raised ride height to look beefed up compared to its hatch sibling. The bumpers will also feature faux bash guard to give it the needed cross look.

New Colors and Alloys

Recently, the cross test mule was also spotted with different color scheme compared to ones offered with the hatch. Expect addition of new colors in the cross variant. Speaking of the tyres, since the hatch’s top variants already ride on 16-inch radial (195/55 cross-section), cross version will features same 16-inches but maybe with fatter cross-section along with new set of alloys, as seen in the spy shots.

Different Shade Interiors

Seeing its competitors which offer slightly sporty and dark interiors, Hyundai could revise the color scheme on Elite i20 Cross interiors. Adding on this context, in Europe Hyundai already offers this new i20 with different color schemes, the cross variant might borrow the same. Furthermore, Hyundai could introduce a touch infotainment system with navigation, considering it as a cross vehicle.

Engines

Considering it a world debut, Hyundai could introduce the Kappa 1.0-liter T-GDI turbo petrol in India, which they showcased at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Talking in respect to it, when they introduced the engine last year, Korean automaker confirmed that it will be offered with i20 in 2015. The 1.0L T-GDI 3-cylinder belts out a meaty 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque.
