Mercedes-Benz, the German automaker made a splash at the Frankfurt Motor Show by showcasing the flagship S-Class in a convertible avatar. The new convertible car enhances the sophisticated looks of the car with the addition of a three-layer canvas roof. The convertible soft-top can be retracted in under 20 seconds. The flagship convertible also gets Mercedes’s AirScarf neck-warming system and Thermotronic climate control system. This particular climate control system uses 12 sensors and 18 actuators to measure a wide array of metrics, all in the pursuit of keeping the cabin atmosphere at the driver's ideal temperature.

Under the hood, the car remains mechanically identical to its hard-top counterpart with exception to the incorporation of a new nine-speed automatic transmission for the S550 model. The S63 AMG will carry on with the seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. The nine-speed automatic transmission is mated to a 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine that belts out a power output of 577 hp and a torque figure of 900Nm. The handling characteristics of the car are still impressive, courtesy to the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive, which helps the convertible accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds.
