Latest spy shots reveal more details of the mid-spec variant of the Ciaz
More spy shots of the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz have surfaced online. This time around, they give us a proper look at the refreshed sedan. So let’s take a quick look, shall we?
Exterior
- The Ciaz facelift looks quite distinctive from the front. It gets a new front fascia featuring a relatively sleeker grille flanked by updated headlamps. The bumper has been redesigned and gets updated fog lamp housings and a larger air dam
- The updated headlamps feature a slightly revised profile (read: kink at the bottom) along with refreshed internal detailing
- While the top-spec variant of the Ciaz will get LED headlamps with LED DRLs for the first time, lower variants should get halogen projector headlamps as before
- As the variant shown in the image is a mid-spec model, the grille also misses out on the chrome treatment, which will be available in the top-spec variant
- At the rear, the changes are of the easy-to-miss kind. Since the variant shown is a mid-spec one, the tail lamps look identical to the outgoing model. However, the top-spec variant will feature LED inserts in the tail lamps
- The rear bumper has also been refreshed. It now gets silver-coloured bezels around the reflector housing. These silver bezels will be replaced with chrome elements on the top-spec variant

Interior
- Barring some minor changes, the cabin layout of the Ciaz facelift remains identical to the outgoing model
Pictured: Pre-facelift Ciaz
- The dark brown faux wood inserts on the dashboard and doors have made way for a lighter shade
- It also gets a new instrument cluster. Along with the new dials, Maruti has added a new colour MID (multi-info display) screen for the first time. The screen appears to be borrowed from the Baleno
- The steering wheel also gets an update with dedicated buttons for cruise control on the right spoke
Variants
- Like the outgoing model, the new Ciaz will also be available in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha
- The sedan in these images seem to be either the Delta or Zeta variant
Features
- On this front, the Ciaz facelift will be better equipped than its predecessor
- Along with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat anchors, the 2018 Ciaz will also get ESP (electronic stability program), traction control and hill start as standard
- Other new additions include auto LED headlamps with LED DRLs, cruise control and rain-sensing wipers
- With the facelift, Maruti will also update the number of standard convenience and comfort enhancing features offered in the Ciaz. It will get an audio player with Bluetooth streaming and steering-mounted controls right from the base Sigma variant. Earlier, these features were only offered from the Delta variant onwards
Engine
- At launch, the Ciaz facelift will be available with a petrol engine only
- It will be powered by a new 1.5-litre engine which replaces the current model’s 1.4-litre motor. The 1.5-litre engine produces 105PS and 138Nm compared to the 93PS and 130Nm offered by the 1.4-litre motor
- Transmission options will remain unchanged with a standard 5-speed manual along with an optional 4-speed AT
- The 1.5-litre engine is coupled to Suzuki’s fuel-saving SHVS mild-hybrid tech. This gives the manual variants a certified fuel efficiency of 21.56kmpl compared to the 1.4-litre manual’s 20.73kmpl. The Ciaz automatic has become more efficient too. It returns 20.28kmpl when compared to 19.12kmpl with the older engine
- The diesel Ciaz is expected to be launched around Diwali this year. It will be powered by the same 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine that powers the outgoing sedan
